If it's one thing the Beyhive knows, it's that Beyoncé no longer does televised interviews—until now.

The famously private Queen Bey just appeared on ABC News in a rare sit-down with Good Morning America's Robin Roberts to discuss her new film, Disney's The Lion King, in which she voices the character Nala. The Homecoming star also premiered the video for her latest single, "Spirit," created specifically for the film's motion picture soundtrack and the new album the songstress executive-produced for the movie called The Lion King: The Gift.

"This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa, and I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it," she told Roberts. "We've kind of created our own genre and I feel like the soundtrack is the first soundtrack where it becomes visual in your in your mind. The soundscape is more than just the music because each song tells the story of the film."

She also conveyed to Roberts that she was particularly drawn to this movie because of her children. "Being a mother, my family is my biggest priority. It's not many films that the parents can come and feel the way I feel about Lion King, and feel that and pass that legacy onto their kids." However, it's not something she takes for granted. "I am still a bit in shock that I'm a part of the this film because I grew up loving the Lion King. It's so much nostalgia for me, and it's the first Disney movie that brought me to tears," she says.

Another selling point for this live-action remake? Girl power abounds. "It was important to the director that Nala and that the females in this film were heroes and he put Nala right alongside Simba in the big fight, and I thought that was really interesting and very real, because the women are...we're the fighters."
