Beyoncé’s Latest Tour Look Delivers Pure ’80s Glamour

Fashion is the ultimate olive branch!

In case you’ve missed it, Beyoncé’s On the Run II tour has been moonlighting as a fashion show. With one killer look after another, Beyoncé has used the stage as an excuse to wear some of the season’s most coveted creations. She’s done maximalism in head-to-toe Versace; she’s given us voluminous Valentino couture; and who could forget her many logo-covered Gucci ensembles? As the tour comes to a wrap—she and Jay-Z only have a handful of shows left—it makes sense that Beyoncé saved some of the best for last. Her latest look? A take on pure ’80s glamour.

Beyoncé performed in New Orleans wearing a long-sleeved, high-neck emerald dress covered in shining crystals, designed by Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing. For a nod to the ’80s, the shoulder pads were very much accentuated, as was the giant flower appliquéd on the front. (That decade was about more is more, after all.) An accentuated waistline and high slit lent a modern flourish to the retro silhouette and offset more traditional details such as the bishop sleeves.
