Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Couple Style Channels Bonnie and Clyde

The stylish duo coordinated their pre-Grammys look.

They say the couple that dresses together stays together, and that statement has certainly stuck with a handful of stylish celebrities this past year. There is no duo who has consistently mastered the art of couples style more than Beyoncé and Jay-Z. But don’t go thinking matching sweatsuits—when it comes to the subject, they are fashion royalty, coordinating ensembles that are both distinctive and polished. With the Grammy Awards tonight, the pair stepped out for pre-Grammys festivities looking nothing short of spectacular, channeling an elevated version of the iconic crime duo Bonnie and Clyde (Beret? Check. Dapper suit? Check).

The couple attended the Clive Davis pre-Grammys gala in New York City. Beyoncé wore a custom asymmetrical gown from Azzi & Osta, which featured a long mesh train. She accessorized the look with a black leather beret—something her sister Solange knows how to pull off very well—and platform sandals. Meanwhile, Jay-Z wore a custom corduroy tux by Musika Frère complete with a bow-tie. Their looks were coordinated, but not entirely matchy-matchy—a harder feat to overcome than one might think. But the real trick to their unified looks? It’s all in the attitude, and that’s not something you can buy.
