No matter your race or gender, most of us can agree on one thing: Betty White was a true gem. Whether you know her best from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls or Hot In Cleveland, one thing is definitely for sure — she was a force to be reckoned with both on and off the screen. While the icon herself may no longer be with us, both newer and lifelong fans have found plenty of ways to keep her memory alive. One way that her name continues to live on? Betty White's Chicken Wings Pacifica recipe.

Randomly coming across the recipe while searching for new weeknight dinner ideas, the recipe seemed easy to make and — according to everyone who's made it — like a delicious spin on baked wings. Said to produce a sticky, sweet and savory outcome, I knew I couldn't resist giving it a try. So, I quickly headed out to the store to get the few ingredients I didn't have in my cabinet to test out what could possibly become my new favorite chicken wing recipe.

Ingredients for Betty White’s Chicken Wings Pacifica

You’ll need 3-pounds of chicken wings — separated into drums and flats — unsalted butter, soy sauce, brown sugar, chicken broth (or water), dry honey mustard, garlic powder, and optionally, both honey and red pepper flakes. Additionally, you'll need to have a shallow baking pan lined with aluminum foil.

How to Make Betty White’s Chicken Wings Pacifica

Heat a small pot over the stovetop on medium low heat and add your butter, soy sauce, brown sugar, water or chicken broth, dry honey mustard, garlic, honey, and red pepper flakes and stir until the mixture is consistently blended. Set aside and let cool.

After separating your wings, add them to a bowl and cover them with your mixture. Cover the bowl with foil and place them in fridge for a minimum of 2-24 hours to marinate. Rotate four times as during the marinating process to evenly coat wings.

Once the wings are finished marinating, preheat your oven to 375°F. Add the bowls to a foil-lined tray, and bake for about an hour and a half. Flip your wings halfway through the baking process to ensure they cook evenly. Remove from the pan once done and serve.

What I Thought of Betty White’s Chicken Wings Pacifica

I really enjoyed this recipe! Most of the ingredients I already had at home, making this an easier recipe to recreate than others. Though there is a little time for prep due to the window of marinating, I think this dish was actually a lighter lift than others, and would make a great weeknight dish.

The chicken was very flavorful, providing a full combination of sweet, savory and sticky. The chicken was very moist, but the skin was still crispy. Paired with a side of homemade fries or the veggie of your choice, I could see this being a constant winner for those looking to put a spin on the classic baked chicken wings recipe.

Tips for Making Betty White’s Chicken Wings Pacifica

  • Make it your own.  While the ingredient list is quite light, don't be afraid to get creative with your seasonings to add a little of flair to your chicken.

  • Marinate for the full 24 hours if possible. You want your chicken to soak up as much flavor as possible to deliver the best taste possible.
