From Harper's BAZAAR

Last week's episode of Riverdale ended with a major cliffhanger, as Betty returned home to find her mom mopping up the blood of a random dead guy. This week's episode, "The Tell-Tale Heart," picks right up at the messy murder scene. Here's everything that happened in Season 2 Episode 13 of Riverdale:

1) Betty and Alice clean up a murder.

Betty helps her mom scrub the blood from the floor, wrap the victim's body in a rug, and dump him in an abandoned sewer pipe in the woods. Throughout the clean-up, Chic sits crying in the corner, and then disappears to his room - despite being the person responsible for killing the man.

When Betty and Alice get home from dumping the body, they bleach the entire house and wipe every surface to erase finger prints. When Hal pops 'round to pick up more of his belongings, he notices the smell of bleach and is suspicious.

2) Hal and Penelope are seeing each other.

Cheryl Blossom's mom reveals to Cheryl that Hal Cooper isn't just a client - the pair have a special connection, and she hints that they're in a relationship. Penelope also suggests to Cheryl that Hal's wife, Alice, isn't as perfect as she seems. Which, obviously, we already know, because we just saw her dispose of a dead body.

3) The FBI agent threatens Archie.

Following the brutal murder of one of Hiram's poker buddies, the FBI agent puts more pressure on Archie to get information about the Lodges. His threats become more severe, and he says he's going to destroy Fred's business if Archie doesn't get results.

4) Archie asks Hiram if he was responsible for the murder of his colleague.

Under duress from the FBI agent's threats, Archie sits down with Hiram and asks him if he had anything to do with the brutal murder of Papa Poutine. Hiram says that he didn't, and Archie relays this information to the FBI.

5) Hiram tries to call a truce with the Serpents.

Following the debacle with the town statue's severed head, Hiram decides it's time to call a truce with the Serpents. Hiram offers a bribe in an attempt to stop Jughead from writing about Hiram's involvement in the statue's decapitation (we learned last week Hiram employed former Serpent Tallboy to cut off the statue's head to incite unrest in Riverdale). However, Jughead refuses to accept the bribe, and FP stands by his decision.

6) The FBI agent speaks to Archie's dad.

Archie returns home to find his dad talking to the FBI agent. According to Fred, the FBI is cracking down on undocumented labor, which could cause trouble for Fred's business.

7) Betty goes to check on the body of Chic's victim.

Betty can't live with herself following the murder, and goes to check that the victim's body is still in the sewer. It is, and she sees that his phone is still in his jacket pocket. She takes the phone and calls everyone in his contacts, trying to learn more about him. However, no one reveals any details, apart from the fact that he had a family. He was clearly a drug dealer.

8) Betty tells Jughead about the murder.

Chic and Alice are playing happy family at home, and Betty finds it impossible to get over what Chic did - and what she covered up. Now that she and Jughead are back together, she tells him what happened, and despite being shocked, he agrees to help her.

9) Jughead covers for Betty.

When a traffic officer comes by and asks who owns the car outside the Cooper's house, Jughead claims ownership. It really belongs to the murdered drug dealer, but Jughead tells Betty that he will help her dispose of the evidence.

9) Cheryl threatens Hal.

Cheryl tells Betty's dad that he's not welcome in her house any longer, and she'll tell Betty about the affair unless he leaves immediately. Cheryl is not messing around.

10) Veronica warns the Mayor that her parents are out for blood.

Veronica tells the Mayor her parents are planning to expose the Mayor's affair with Sheriff Keller, and advises she get ahead of the story. The Lodges want to use the affair against the Mayor to control her, but Veronica doesn't want the romantic tryst to be exposed, as it will ruin every aspect of the Mayor's life.

11) Betty and Jughead dump the victim's car and phone in Sweetwater River.

At first, it doesn't look like the car will sink, but eventually it disappears.

12) The Mayor resigns.

Taking Veronica's advice, the Mayor resigns from her post and announces she's returning to work as a lawyer. Veronica lies to her parents and says she didn't warn the Mayor about their plan.

13) Cheryl tells Betty about Hal's affair, and Betty confronts him.

Unable to keep the secret, Cheryl tells Betty what her dad has been up to.

At the Cooper's house, Hal has come home to interrogate Chic. He doesn't trust his long-lost son at all. But Betty returns home and jumps to Chic's defense. She uses her knowledge of Hal's affair against him, saying she'll expose the affair unless he leaves Chic alone. The threat works.

14) Archie tells Hiram the FBI is investigating him.

Concerned that the FBI will investigate his dad, Archie goes to Hiram for help and reveals everything the agent has asked him to do over the past few weeks. Hiram tells Archie he will deal with it, and promises not to kill the agent.

15) FP offers to help Betty and Alice.

After realizing just how many loose ends they left with their murder - from taking the victim's phone to leaving his car unattended outside of the house - Alice and Betty realize they need help. They go to FP, to whom Jughead has already told the entire story. He immediately takes control, telling them, "I'm not going to let you make the same mistake I made with Jason Blossom."

He covers the body in lye and buries it in the woods, telling Alice and Betty that it will disintegrate completely, destroying all evidence.

17) Hiram's assistant picks up Archie and takes him into the woods.

Archie taken to see the boss, whom he believes is Hiram. However, when he is dropped off, Veronica's mom, Hermione, is waiting for him. She reveals that there is no FBI agent - it was a scheme the Lodges cooked up to see if Archie was trustworthy.

Having confided in Hiram about the FBI investigation, and refusing to give any information about the Lodges to the fake FBI agent, Archie has passed the test and is welcomed into the family. However, Archie doesn't look thrilled to now be part of a dangerous crime family.

18) FP and Alice have a moment.

After burying the body of Chic's victim, FP tells Alice, "We take care of our own." He takes her hand, and it's clear that FP and Alice have a special connection. Will someone please tell me if Chic is their son?!
