BET's 'Baldwin Hills' Star And Model Gerren Taylor Has Died At Age 30

Gerren Taylor, a star on BET's Baldwin Hills, has died at age 30. Gerren reportedly passed away in her sleep on Sunday due to unknown causes, according to Essence. PEOPLE confirmed her death as well.

She worked as an actress and model, but was best known for her role in the BET reality docuseries, Baldwin Hills. It followed the lives of wealthy Black teens in Los Angeles' Baldwin Hills neighborhood. Gerren appeared on 24 episodes between 2007 and 2009.

BET released a statement on Monday: "The entire BET family mourns the passing of one of our own, Ms. Ashley Gerren Taylor, beloved star of Baldwin Hills. The untimely passing of such a young, bright light is difficult to process. BET’s thoughts and prayers go out to Ashley’s friends and family during this time."

Following the tragic news, Gerren's friends and fans have shared condolences on her most recent Instagram photo: "love you forever 🙏🏾;" "Rest in Power Queen 🖤🖤🖤."

Gerren also appeared in America the Beautiful, a documentary about self-image and impossible beauty standards in the United States. In addition to acting, Gerren worked as a model. LA Models signed her at 12 , and she was the youngest person signed by the agency at the time. She walked the runways for major designers, including Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, and more.

Gerren's friends and colleagues have continued sharing tributes and photos in her memory on Twitter and Instagram.

Gerren is survived by her seven-year-old daughter, per Essence.
