As the 50th anniversary celebration of hip-hop continues, BET is throwing its hat in the festivities with the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards, set to premiere on Oct. 10.

The annual awards show honors the best and brightest rappers, singers and other Black artists in the popular genre. This year’s event, which was pre-recorded on Oct. 3 in Atlanta, honored seasoned greats, and featured performances by GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Ludacris and more.

More from WWD

Hip-hop has long influenced fashion and beauty. In June, designer April Walker, who has worked with LL Cool J, Queen Latifah and Tupac, spoke with WWD about the intersection between hip-hop and fashion.

“I was able to see people in their best forms of self-expression, but they were actually self-expressing by manipulating and remixing styles that they went and bought off the rack,” part of Walker told WWD, later adding, “We were bleaching our jeans, ripping up our shirts and just doing things a little different. That’s what hip-hop is to me.”

Ahead is everything else to know about the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards, including how to stream for free.
