Which Is The Best Watermelon Moisturizer? An Honest Review

Watermelon has been having it's own moment in the beauty aisles as of late. The refreshing fruit is loaded with H2O (almost 92%!!!!), antioxidants, and citrulline (an amino acid that claims to be anti-inflammatory and a natural exfoliator). It's cooling, ultra-hydrating, and known to make your skin glow. Most watermelon beauty products are in the form of a jelly or gooey consistency because of how watery and cooling the fruit can be. Sure, we definitely still want to eat watermelon but now we want to smear it all over our faces too.

We tested two revered watermelon moisturizers to see which formula would win a showdown in the duel for #1 Watermelon Moisturizer. Scroll to see which one won our hearts.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer

Glow Recipe's watermelon line (which includes an overnight mask and ultra-fine mist as well) is a fan-favorite. I religiously use the overnight watermelon sleeping mask a few times a week for a nice glow when I wake up in the AM. But the moisturizer doesn't have the same effectiveness for me. The moisturizer contains 90% watermelon extract, which is exceedingly more than other watermelon products. It also contains hyaluronic acid which retains 1000 times its weight in water. I gave this moisturizer a test run for a week last December (when my skin is at it's driest) and another run in June, unfortunately my experience both times were underwhelming. The moisturizer never fully absorbed onto my skin regardless of how many pumps I used and left my skin feeling sticky. The refreshing and subtle watermelon scent is so delicious that I didn't mind having it in limbo on the surface of my skin, but for the glow? I'd prefer to stick to the overnight mask at night and a different moisturizer in the AM.

Bliss What A Melon Hydrator

Bliss released it's own line of watermelon products--cleverly named What A Melon--just this summer, which includes a toner, a de-stressing overnight mask and a moisturizer. The moisturizer I tried contains willow bark extract, which naturally exfoliates skin and minimize the appearance of pores without over-drying. The formula itself is totally weightless and feels as though it transforms into water upon contact. I began using the moisturizer in July and continue to use it throughout the summer because of it's cooling formula and light hydration. It keeps my skin bouncy and soft without making it feel overly oily. I typically still use a cream at night, but always reach for the Bliss What A Melon Hydrator in the AM.
