Situated where Cypress Creek and the Blanco River meet, amidst rolling hills and sprawling countryside, Wimberley has plenty to offer those taking a trip to Hill Country. Take A Dip At Jacob’s Well

Hill Country is known as a prime Texas destination for swimming holes, and Jacob’s Well Natural Area is one of the most unique. Jacob’s Well is the second-largest fully submerged cave in Texas, and an artesian spring that releases thousands of gallons of water a day. The water temperature stays at 68 degrees all year long, and the deepest part of the cavern is 140 feet deep. Take a swim and see just how expansive this swimming hole is, and then take a hike on one one the hiking trails throughout this 81-acre area. Reservations are required for water access, and sometimes the Well is closed for swimming, depending on the season, so check the website beforehand.

Shop The Wimberley Square

Full of retail stores, art galleries, and wine tasting rooms, the Wimberley square is a must do while in town. Stop by Kiss the Cook for top-of-the-line kitchen gadgets, bakeware, kitchen towels, grill supplies, barware, aprons, and more. It’s a great place to find a gift for anyone who loves to cook. Whimsy is a fun stop as well, as it has an incredible selection of fairy gardens, plus fair-trade clothing and jewelry, natural soaps, and Christmas decor.

See A Glassblowing Demonstration

Since 1992, Wimberley Glassworks has been cranking out beautiful blown glass art straight from the studio in Wimberley. Stop in and see a live glass blowing demonstration, then check out the art installations and hang out on the patio under the shade of oak trees. Blown glass pieces available for purchase include bowls, vases, platters, and more. You can even find one-of-a-kind lighting and beautiful glassware, a perfect souvenir to remind you of your time in Wimberley. Each year, the studio creates an annual Christmas ornament only available that year, so stop in and see what this year’s bauble looks like.

Frolic Through The Lavender Fields

Hill Country is full of lavender fields, and Wimberley is no exception. Head to Rough Creek Lavender Fields, the oldest and largest lavender farm in the Wimberley Valley, and pick your own lavender as you stroll through the fields. There’s an on-site store here too, so grab some lavender products like lotions, air fresheners, soaps, lip balms, body mist, and even bug repellent. There’s also Cypress Creek Lavender, which also sells products such as lavender dog shampoo, headache remedies, smudge sticks, and deodorant. Book an appointment to check out the farm, where owners show visitors what it’s like to raise chickens, turkeys, ducks, Guinea fowl, goats, and beehives.  

Sip On Local Brews (And More!)

Wimberley and the surrounding area are full of wineries, distilleries, and breweries. Cypress Creek Reserve is a rum distillery creating three different types of rum: vanilla rum, crystal rum, and barrel-aged rum. All rums are sold only at the distillery, so stop by and enjoy a rum cocktail on the patio or deck, or in the large tree house deck. Seventh Son Vineyards offers 100% Texas-grown wines, with varietals including tempranillo, Montepulciano, Mourvedre, and Picpoul Blanc. Limestone Terrace Vineyard was started in 2016 by a group of friends after the vineyard had been previously devastated by a fire in 2011. Today, the vineyard makes all Texas-grown wines that include whites, red, and rosé, and tasting flights are available weekly.

Go Glamping

For a unique stay, book one of the scenic yurts of Yurtopia. While each yurt features an outdoor kitchen, bathroom, hot tub, fire pit, and rooftop deck, the real standout is the property's Spa Yurt where you can book a massage.

Attend Market Day

Occurring the first Saturday of the month between March and December, this event is a great place to find locally produced foods and goods. Between shopping the booths, you'll find plenty of food offerings and live music by local musicians. The market is located in the historic district.

Hike Old Baldy

For a 360-degree view of the Wimberley Valley, make the short trek up Old Baldy, AKA Prayer Mountain. Not far from downtown Wimberley, you’ll ascend the 218 limestone staircase to the top, ending at a “bald” viewpoint and a magical view of Hill Country. Along the way, see if you can spot any inspirational messages painted onto the rocks that past visitors left, as this is the reason Old Baldy is also called Prayer Mountain. Bring a hat, water, and sunscreen, as there is not much shade along this hike. 

Stay At A Ranch

On the banks of Blanco River, 7A Ranch, a family-run resort, has been in operation since 1946. You're able to stay on the picturesque grounds with all of the creature comforts, all while being less than two miles from town for easy access to restaurants and shopping.

Taste Local Flavor

There's no shortage of local-owned restaurants to enjoy during your visit. Have breakfast at the Wimberley Cafe, where pancakes and waffles are served all day, and daily specials include country classics like pot roast and King Ranch Chicken. Or grab a spot on the patio at Chill’s on the Creek, where brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays. Kids will love the Candy Cottage, where fudge, taffy, popcorn, candy, and ice cream take center stage.

Soar On Wimberley Zipline

If you're looking for a little bit of action, the high-soaring Wimberley Zipline should do the trick. With stunning 15-mile views of the Wimberley Valley, this adventure is perfect for all ages and soars over canyons and creeks.

Hang Out With Llamas

The Shady Llama is a 35-acre farm just outside of town that is home to, you guessed it, roaming llamas. You're able to chill amongst the resident animals, while also having fun. It's a popular outdoor venue with a food truck on site.
