A few legacy brands that were super popular in the early 2000s are having major glow-ups this year. From Abercrombie & Fitch to Banana Republic, these clothing stores were once known for one specific look (wannabe frat boys and buttoned-up dads, respectively) and have recently evolved and created some of the most impressive and well-made men’s basics we’ve seen in years.
While Abercrombie hit the ball out of the park with its yacht-ready knit shirts, Banana Republic stepped it up in the men’s essentials department, creating some of the most comfortable and well-fitting T-shirts I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried a lot).
Between Banana Republic and its outlet store Banana Republic Factory, there are three tees that I’d say are the best of the year: the Authentic Supima T-Shirt, the Soft Wash T-Shirt and the Luxe Touch T-Shirt. Also, if you’re tall and need a tee in a longer length, all three come in four tall sizes (M to XXL).
I’ve tried all three and have firmly dubbed them the best T-shirts I’ve worn in years. Check out why each is deserving of your coins below.
What I love most about the Authentic Supima T-Shirt, though, is that its specialty-knit jersey material is pilling and shrink-resistant. It’s also roomy enough without being too relaxed or loose. It has a straight hem, short sleeves and a classic crew neck and comes in seven sizes (XXS to XXL) and four colors.
The Soft Wash T-Shirt is finished with a special wash process that also gives it a unique, supremely soft and slinky feel that feels amazing on the skin. This one has a curved hem and a crew neck and comes in six sizes (XS to XXL) and eight colors.
Made with 100% cotton interlock, a material that’s super soft, firm and absorbent, the Luxe Touch T-Shirt is perfect for wearing on its own, as an undershirt or to the gym. This is all thanks to its performance fabric that has anti-odor properties and breathability that keeps it feeling fresh and comfortable even when you sweat.
It also has quick-dry performance technology built in that moves moisture to the fabric’s surface, allowing it to dry faster and keep the sweat away from your skin.
In terms of feel, this tee has a silk-like hand feel and looks more polished than the other two options. It has a straight hem, short sleeves and a classic crew neck and comes in nine colors and six sizes (XS to XXL).
All in all, you can’t go wrong with any of these T-shirts.
