Most of us change the clothes we wear from season to season. You might also change your skincare routine, some of your home decor or the candle scents you burn — so why not change your perfume? It’s true some fragrances are good all year round, but a summer perfume smells light and fresh.
If you don’t have your perfect summer scent picked out yet, you may want to consider Victoria’s Secret Bombshell. It’s fruity, floral and one of the best summer perfumes for women. Actually, it’s so popular that it was named America’s No. 1 fragrance in 2021.
Victoria’s Secret Bombshell has notes of purple passion fruit, vanilla orchid and Shangri-La peony. You don’t have to spend over $100 or go to Saks Fifth Avenue or Nordstrom to find it, either. Bombshell is less than $60 for a standard-sized 1.7-fluid-ounce bottle, and you can get it in VS stores, as well as on Amazon.
If you’re curious, a lot of Amazon reviewers rave about the scent and about how long it lasts.
“Bombshell by Victoria’s Secret is my favorite of all their fragrances,” wrote one Amazon reviewer. “I compare it to Ralph Lauren’s Romance or Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. Bombshell is a clean floral scent with long-lasting staying power.”
“I am typically not into VS perfumes and quite a perfume snob, so when I got a free promotional pen of Bombshell last spring, my expectations were low,” explained another. “I quickly changed my mind and now find this masterpiece quite addictive. I love the sweet and sour freshness, bright feminine energy and universal likability of Bombshell. Everyone who smelled it on me approved, so it’s safe to wear to work.”
“Literally the best perfume I’ve ever bought,” wrote another about the Victoria’s Secret summer perfume. “I’ve had it on for hours and I can STILL smell it. It smells so sweet and and fragrant. Lasts a long time.”
Victoria’s Secret has an entire Bombshell-scented line, but the Eau de Parfum is the most concentrated, strongest version of the fragrance. You can wear it on its own or layer it with the Bombshell body lotion or body mist. There’s even a Bombshell candle if you want your home to smell like the summertime fragrance, too.
Additionally, Victoria’s Secret has a few other variations of its best-selling scent. There’s Bombshell Isle, Bombshell Passion, Bombshell Seduction, Bombshell Intense and Bombshell Bloom. All could be considered summer fragrances, really, but the standard Bombshell and Bombshell Isle stand out the most.
Bombshell Isle is another great summer perfume and one of Victoria’s Secret’s new fragrances for the season (it just launched in March 2023!). It has top notes of coconut, pearl peony and ocean air and comes in a pretty light blue bottle.
“Inspired by sun-kissed waters, this fragrance transports you to the perfect paradise,” the master perfumer, Yves Cassar, writes on the brand’s website. Each spritz will remind you of your favorite tropical vacation, from the sunscreen you used and the sea salt you smelled to the gorgeous beach walks in paradise.
If you like Sol De Janeiro’s Brazilian Crush Cheriosa ’62 body spray, with notes of pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla, you may like the new perfume, Bombshell Isle. However, if you like a sexy, more floral scent like TiKTok’s favorite Carolina Herrera Good Girl perfume with jasmine, tonka bean and citrusy mandarin notes, the original Bombshell may be the one for you.
On the other hand, there are four more scents to consider that all build on notes of peony. Bombshell Passion combines peony, cassis and rose for a deeper floral scent. Bombshell Seduction mixes peony with sage and velvet musk. Bombshell Intense adds cherry and vanilla with peony. And finally, Bombshell Bloom, a “throwback scent” from 2014 that the brand recently brought back for a limited time, has notes of pink freesia, apple and water lily.
All of those varieties considered, the original Bombshell perfume is a customer favorite. It really is a great signature scent if you’re looking to lighten things up in preparation for warmer weather. Wear it during the day, on hot summer nights or take it on vacation. You can get it on the Victoria’s Secret website, but it’s a little cheaper on Amazon, and it’s the same great scent.
