SKIMS, in case you're unfamiliar, is Kim Kardashian's best-selling line of shapewear. It offers cosy loungewear and pyjamas, great underwear, and most recently swimwear too, but shapewear "solutions" remain at the core of the brand.

Which is why we are so excited to say that the brand is dropping a whole new load of shapewear this week. In fact, it's the second biggest collection since Kim K launched her multi-billion dollar brand.

The brand’s latest campaign dropped yesterday (24 April) and featured global stars; American rapper Ice Spice, TikTok music sensation PinkPantheress, American vocalist Nessa Barrett and British singer-songwriter Raye as the new faces of Kim K’s iconic figure shaping lingerie.

In the campaign video the musicians of the moment are all wearing SKIMS’ new shapewear collection aptly named the Everyday Sculpt collection. The largest drop since the brand launched back in 2019, the new range includes lightweight bodysuits, everyday thongs and sculpting (yet hella comfortable) bralettes. And it comes as no surprise, really, that we want it all.

Alongside the new collection, SKIMS has also updated its best-selling Seamless Sculpt Collection with eleven new cuts and the brand’s super inclusive shade range – so now you can wear that viral Seamless Sculpt Bodysuit no matter what the occasion. Without a VPL in sight, we might add.

Speaking on SKIMS’ Instagram, PinkPantheress says: “I loved being a part of SKIMS latest shapewear campaign. These styles empower me to try clothes I wouldn't have tried before and make me feel so comfortable and secure.”

It’s worth noting the new Seamless Sculpt and Everyday Sculpt aren’t on sale until Thursday (27 April). But we strongly advise adding yourself to the waitlist for your fave design ASAP as the new drop is a guaranteed to sell-out.

It's worth saying no one's body needs to be shaped, smoothed, minimised, or constricted - all bodies are perfect exactly as they are. But, we know that occasionally, certain undergarments might provide a little confidence boost, or ease an insecurity for some folks. And we're *all for* people feeling like their best self, whether that's in your everyday bra and underwear, fancy lingerie, or in a little bit of shapewear. You do you.

With so many shapewear options out there nowadays, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. But fear not - we've answered your questions and rounded up the best picks to shop. Let's dive in...

Are SKIMS or Spanx better?

While there are plenty of shapewear options out there on the market, Spanx have been the most ubiquitous name in the game since their launch in 2000. With countless references in tv, film, and pop culture, this brand is top of mind for many women looking for supportive undergarments.

But which brand is best? Oprah named Spanx one of her new favourite things when the brand launched, and other celebrity Spanx fans include Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Alba. In terms of price, SKIMS shaping shorts range from £34 to £96, varying based on compression level. Net-a-Porter's Spanx shorts selection goes from £46 to £222. (It's worth noting, the £222 pair includes interior boning for the highest level of control, and a built-in corset. Most other items are comparably priced across both brands.)

Both labels offer maternity items, various levels of compression, shorts, underwear and bodysuits. And neither brand has limited themselves to just sculpting garments - both have lifestyle ranges as well, like activewear. SKIMS, however, has a wider size and colour range in many products. Plus, their "solution short," which features one longer leg and one cropped leg, to wear with thigh-high slit dresses, feels very modern. Kim has spoken before about that all-too-familiar scenario of needing the loo while wearing shapewear on a night out, but finding it impossible to peel off in a hurry, so many of her SKIMS shorts have a crotch opening as a solution. Genius.

Are SKIMS actually good?

Just like any clothes or underwear, opinions can vary based on personal experience - but a lot of reviewers swear by SKIMS. One shopper called the Maternity Sculpting Bodysuit "the best pregnancy purchase I’ve ever made," which is pretty damn high praise. And a customer who reviewed the Sheer Sculpt Low Back Short in size XL gave them five stars, saying "This went perfect with my wedding dress!!! Did not show one bit!!" Plus, there's an endless stream of tagged photos from happy customers on Instagram.

What shapewear do the Kardashians wear?

The Kardashian-Jenner clan are all about supporting each other's (many) businesses, so naturally, the sisters have been spotted in SKIMS a lot over the years. Kylie has shared selfies on Instagram wearing the Cotton Jersey Triangle Bralette and the Cozy Knit Pant before. In 2021, Kourtney posed in a SKIMS campaign with Megan Fox, modelling the Essential T-shirt Bodysuit and pieces from the Cotton Collection. In February, Khloé stunned in a brown strapless catsuit by the brand.

But which ones are the founder's favourites to get that famously snatched waistline? Kim told American retailer Nordstrom, "My go-to shapewear piece is the Sculpting Short. I wear it under everything, especially tight dresses and skirts, where I want super smooth lines. The Sculpting Bodysuit is also an essential."
