Any movie buff is familiar with the work of Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock, an actress so versatile she's starred in fun romantic comedies like The Proposal and Miss Congeniality, to action films like Speed and plenty of genres in between. Here, we've ranked seven of her top films that are worth watching for the first time if you somehow haven't seen them, or worth a nostalgic rewatch if you want to experience them again.

7. While You Were Sleeping

In this comedy-drama, Bullock plays a transit worker who pulls her longtime crush, played by Bill Pullman from the path of an oncoming train. Once she's with him at the hospital, she's quickly mistaken for his fiancée by his family, leading to all kinds of complications before he eventually wakes up.

6. Hope Floats

In this 1998 romantic drama, Bullock plays Birdee, a housewife humiliated on national television when her husband reveals he's been cheating on her with her best friend. She moves her children from Chicago to her small Texas hometown, where she struggles to readjust to her old life, eventually finding love again with an old boyfriend played by Harry Connick, Jr.

5. Miss Congeniality

In this classic chick flick, Bullock plays Gracie, an FBI agent who goes undercover as a contestant at the Miss United States Pageant, which received a bomb threat from a terrorist. Despite seeming to lack an ounce of femininity, it's determined that Gracie is the only agent who can "look the part" for this task.

4. Speed

In this 1994 action film, Bullock plays the driver of a bus that is rigged by a terrorist to explode if its speed goes below 50 per hour. With a concept like that, there is a ton of tension and some exciting car chases to enjoy here.

3. Gravity

In this white knuckle sci-fi thriller, Bullock plays an astronaut who, alongside a fellow scientist played by George Clooney, attempts to return to Earth after their space shuttle is destroyed in orbit. The filmmaking and visual effects are next-level as you really feel like you're with the characters in the terrifying vacuum of space.

2. The Blind Side

Based on true events, this film tells the story of Michael Oher, a high school football player who overcame a difficult upbringing in poverty and the foster care system to eventually play in the NFL with the help of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, played by Bullock and Tim McGraw, respectively. Bullock won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2009 for her role in the film.
