The Best Room At: The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMadThe Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad

With a food and beverage program by Chef José Andrés and 250 guestrooms and suites featuring expansive views of New York City, The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad was buzzed about even before it opened in the heart of Manhattan in July 2022.

Located at Broadway and 28th Street, the hotel is now the second Ritz-Carlton in New York City, joining the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park. It’s also one of several high-end properties that recently opened or are slated to open in the NoMad neighborhood—including the Ned NoMad, Virgin Hotels New York City, and Hotel AKA NoMad—signifying a revitalization of the area following the pandemic.

Some amenities that even non-hotel guests can take advantage of are the food and beverage offerings, which Michelin-starred chef José Andrés oversees. Zaytinya, the hotel's Mediterranean restaurant, is located on the ground floor, and the cocktail bar Nubeluz (a portmanteau of the Spanish words for cloud and light) features innovative drinks like the Salt Air Margarita (served with a salty foam top) and floor-to-ceiling city views from the 50th floor. The Bazaar, another Andrés restaurant, is scheduled to open this spring.

Here, the hotel's general manager, Bastian Germer, tells T&C what sets the hotel apart and provides an exclusive first look inside its luxurious Ritz-Carlton Suite.

What do you consider to be the best room at the property and why?

Located on the 37th floor, the Ritz-Carlton Suite is definitely the premier suite in the 250-room hotel. Boasting 270-degree views over Manhattan—from the Empire State Building to Downtown Manhattan and over to the Statue of Liberty. The expansive 2,100-square-foot, one-bedroom suite is complete with a variety of lavish amenities, such as a private wellness room featuring a Peloton bike, distinct separate living and dining areas, a media room, 200-square-foot dressing area, and a stunning Terrazzo marble bathroom with soaking tub and double rain shower.

The residential-style suite features elegantly appointed spaces and an abundance of natural light. The earth-toned, neutral color palette emphasizes how time passes and echoes New York’s grid design. The Ritz-Carlton Suite can also be combined with an Empire State Double room to form a 2,700-square-foot, two-bedroom suite.

Guests staying in the Ritz-Carlton Suite are also granted access to the Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge, which features five complimentary culinary offerings throughout the day: breakfast, lunch, afternoon delights, hors d'oeuvres & cocktails, and desserts & cordials, all curated by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés and his culinary team.

How much does it cost per night?

The Ritz-Carlton Suite starts from $20,000 per night.

How would you describe the guests that stay at the hotel and the general atmosphere/vibe?

As a new property, it has been exciting to see how the vibe comes to life and it has quickly become a gathering place—with its location in the heart of Manhattan and the extremely popular restaurants, bars, and lounge, the public spaces are constantly buzzing with a cool and lively crowd of New Yorkers and visitors alike. When it comes to guests who stay at the hotel, we are seeing the ultra-luxury, food-obsessed guest to the corporate or multi-generational traveler, and a much younger average age than the typical Ritz-Carlton guest as the hotel serves as the blueprint for a new era of the brand. A younger crowd of guests have rushed to experience the property as they too seek ultra-luxe experiences and accommodations.

What are the best things to do in the hotel?

The hotel’s food and beverage offerings happen to be some of NYC’s most in-demand reservations, not just for visitors but locals as well. Helmed by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés, guests can dine at Zaytinya, which offers an innovative mezze menu inspired by Turkish, Greek, and Lebanese cuisines served up in a sleek and modern setting designed by Rockwell Group, or be transported to the Martin Brudnizki-designed jewel box in the sky for cocktails, bites and sweeping 270-degree views across Manhattan at Nubeluz, one of the newest additions to New York’s nightlife scene. If a little R&R is needed, guests head to the 6,800-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Spa New York, NoMad, and unwind from the fast-paced city life in the beautiful subterranean oasis.

What feeling about the neighborhood do you hope to impart to visitors?

The NoMad neighborhood is steeped in history but feels thoroughly modern with high-profile restaurants and luxe high-rises. Located at the crossroads of 28th and Broadway, we are in a truly dynamic location, connecting quintessential points of interest, including signature shopping spots, museums, and parks. Our address imparts the vibrant history of the neighborhood as the birthplace of American popular music known as Tin Pan Alley, while also sitting amidst the Floral District, and is today a nexus of art, entertainment, fashion, and technology.
