Best restaurants near Vero Beach airport to hit before or after Blue Angels air show

Wondering where you can grab a bite to eat before or after this year's Vero Beach Air Show?

C.J. Cannon's restaurant in the airport closes during the airshow, but here are five other cafes, eateries and restaurants near the Vero Beach Regional Airport, where the Blue Angels will perform Saturday and Sunday.

You'll find a variety of pizzas, including gluten free and by-the-slice that costs $3.50 apiece plus 30-60 cents per topping. There's also pasta and other classic Italian fare and cheesy, baked dishes, plus chicken wings, burgers, subs and sandwiches. They even deliver within a 5-mile radius of the restaurant.

Nettie's Roadside Restaurant

This breakfast and lunch restaurant lets you build-your-own breakfast from an extensive list of traditional offerings. Lunch includes an array of salads, subs, paninis, burgers, hot and cold sandwiches, homemade soup and chili, and country-style meals such as meatloaf, country fried steak, and open-faced turkey or roast beef with gravy.

On the Fly Deli & Grill

This restaurant in the Mobil gas station serves a limited breakfast all day. Choose from a bagel with cream cheese, two different egg sandwiches or a platter. They also have four salads (Greek, Cobb, Chef or egg and tuna), hot and cold sandwiches, and fried sides, including chicken wings, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks and a corn dog.

Olivia's

This Italian-American kitchen prepares fresh, homemade, heat-and-eat foods that change daily. Meals are designed to take home with you, so there's no wait staff, but they will heat your purchase if you want to eat it there. They also have salads, breads and bakery items. The owners were still deciding on their special air show menu, but said they might have pizza on Friday and likely will have lobster rolls and back ribs on Saturday. They're closed Sunday.

Rio Coco Cafe & Roastery

In addition to serving hand-picked, high-altitude, slow-roasted, "100% humanic" specialty coffees made in small batches, the owners donate some profits to help educate over 1,700 Miskito children along the Rio Coco in Nicaragua each year. They also serve smoothies, milkshakes, chai and espresso. Breakfast is served all day. Lunch is served after 10:30 a.m. and includes wraps, paninis, salads and bowls.
