What are the best restaurants in Fort Worth? The old list of 3 has grown. Maybe 10?

Top 3 restaurants? Maybe a top 10?

Hey, Bud! I heard you said the best restaurants in Fort Worth are Ellerbe, Grace and Paris 7th. Is that right?

—Question in the hallway at The Stayton at Museum Way residences

That’s was the answer here for years. But now, the possibilities also include B&B Butchers, Bricks & Horses, Clay Pigeon, Don Artemio, Le Margot or 61 Osteria, plus old-time favorite Saint-Émilion. For somewhere different, I like Istanbul Grill, Quince and Teddy Wong’s. Your mileage may vary.

In Stockyards: Lonesome Dove, Cattlemen’s

Hey, Bud! Where do you eat when you go to the Stockyards?

—Coming from out-of-town

Lonesome Dove is outstanding. But I’m also partial to the wood-paneled front dining room at Cattlemen’s Steak House.

It’s been updated under new owners but still has all the favorites. And lunch is $15-$20.

If you go to Joe T. Garcia’s — and sooner or later, everyone does — go at a weekday lunch when there’s no line. Order the chile relleno. It might be the city’s best.

Chef Point Cafe now in Colleyville

Hey, Bud! There was a famous restaurant that was in a gas station. I think it was somewhere in the suburbs. Do you remember?

—Question at a Woman’s Club of Fort Worth talk

Chef Point Cafe is still around. But it moved to a regular restaurant location at 5220 Texas 121, Colleyville.

It originally opened serving upscale dinners in a Watauga gas station, which earned it the nickname “the calamari Conoco.”

Chef Point recently added a smoked rib-eye to the wide-ranging menu. The features include fried chicken, blackened stuffed chicken, blackened stuffed pork chops, a Monte Cristo and pasta-with-chicken dishes.
