PANAMA CITY — Memorial Day weekend is coming up, and what better way to celebrate than sitting back, relaxing and enjoying a juicy burger?

With May being National Hamburger Month, here are a dozen local restaurants where you can grab a quality burger. Featured in alphabetical order, the list was compiled with help from Visit Panama City Beach and Visit Panama City. It does not include national chains.

Alice's on Bayview

This seafood restaurant is located at 1000 Bayview Ave. in Panama City. With a focus on simplicity, this restaurant is known for its tradition burger, which cost $12.50 and comes with one side. It also offers two specialty burgers − the Cheddar and Bacon and the Cheddar and Swiss − both of which cost $15 and also come with one side.

American Charlie Grill & Tavern

This American-style restaurant is located at 473 Richard Jackson Blvd. in Panama City Beach. All of its burgers are completely customizable, apart from its signature burger, the Uncle Sam Jam, which features two patties, American cheese, mushrooms, bacon and queso Blanco. The Uncle Sam Jam cost $22 and comes with one side.

Copper Tap Grille

Serving a little bit of everything, this restaurant is located at 1316 Beck Ave. in Panama City. It only offers one burger on its menu, the Drew's Big Angus Burger, which boasts traditional toppings and is served on a Kaiser roll. It cost $14.95 and comes with garlic parmesan waffle fries.

Gulf Coast Burger Co.

Specializing in burgers, this restaurant is located at 10031 Hutchison Blvd. in Panama City Beach. It allows customers to build their own burger with a variety of toppings. It also features five signature burgers, each of which is named after a state. All cost $16 and come with one side. They are:

  • The Florida Burger − A brioche bun burger with American Cheese, bacon, egg, avocado, spring mix and orange slice topper.

  • The Alabama Burger − A brioche bun burger with pimento cheese, coleslaw, fried green tomato, a special white sauce and chicken wing topper.

  • The Mississippi Burger − A wheat bun burger with fried steak, pickles, tomato, sautéed onions, brown gravy and pork skin topper.

  • The Louisiana Burger − A brioche bun burger with pepper jack cheese, andouille sausage, remoulade, peppers and a mini corn dog topper.

  • The Texas Burger − A jalapeno Texas toast burger with gouda cheese, tobacco onions, chili, fried jalapenos, BBQ sauce and a pork skin topper.

House of Henry Irish Pub and Eatery

This Irish Pub is located at 461 Harrison Ave. in Panama City. It features a variety of burgers, with the Belfast Heathen Burger considered its house specialty burger. The brioche bun burger, which cost $16 and is paired with one side, comes with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, fried onions and BBQ sauce.

Lone Star Boil House

This Cajun restaurant is located at 320 W. Fifth St. in Panama City. It is known for the Lone Star Burger, which can be customized with different toppings and features a patty made from blended steak and bacon. All patties are smoked and then finished on a grill before being served. The Lone Star Burger cost $9.99 and comes with one side.

Patches Pub & Grill

With both indoor and outdoor seating, along with live music, this restaurant at 4723 Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach is a favorite. It is most known for two burgers: the Double Bacon Egg and Cheese and the Old McDonald.

The Double Bacon Egg and Cheese cost $13.99 and comes with cheese, bacon, a fried egg and garlic aioli sauce. The Old McDonald cost $13.99 and comes with swiss cheese, smoked pork and house BBQ sauce. Both are served with one side.

Tally-Ho Drive In

Specializing in burgers and shakes, this drive-in restaurant is located at 1449 Harrison Ave. in Panama City. While it offers a variety of burgers − including a mushroom swiss burger, chili burger and jalapeno bacon burger − it is most known for its Jumbo Cheese Burger, which is a half-pound burger served with traditional toppings. It cost $8.40 for just the entree.

The restaurant offers multiple burgers, including its staple Craft Bar Burger, which cost $16 and is topped with a choice of cheese and caramelized onions. The Craft Bar is also known for its specialty Que Burger, which also cost $16 and is topped with smoked cheddar cheese, jalapenos, onion rings and BBQ sauce. Both are served with fries.

While it is known for its Classic Burnout Burger, which cost $13 and comes with one side and standard toppings, it also is the home of the popular Candy Bacon BBQ Burger. This specialty burger cost $16, comes with one side, and features cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, homemade candy bacon and BBQ sauce.
