"A dress is great for a super frictionless resting experience and great for someone who enjoys a bit more glamour," suggests Ashley Merrill, founder of sleepwear label Lunya. "Short sleeves versus full sleeves is really about what temperature you run and what flatters your body best." In the midst of summer, you'll likely want to aim for fabrics that will keep you cooler—namely light cottons or silks. As you get in to winter, swap in flannel, fleece, or even cashmere to stay warm.

Great sleepwear these days isn't just about function. As many people navigate a hybrid work schedule, the rules of what hours constitute pajama time have shifted. In fact, not only can elevated sleepwear work for office hours, it's also fitting for drinks or a night out. "On an average day you can find me in the silk pants styled with a vintage band tee or a cropped top and a blazer. Wearing repurposed restwear out makes me feel rebelliously comfortable."
