While the demographics of Palm Beach island may be seeing change, the isle's tradition of pristine home interiors continues to beat on.

For the sixth annual Kips Bay Palm Beach Decorator Show, 21 of the nation's leading interior designers and architects put their talents to the test within a 9,000-square-foot Mediterranean-stye home located in West Palm Beach's Northwood Shore neighborhood. The property, which was donated by the Randall Realty Group and the Randall family, sits on the water overlooking the cerulean Lake Worth Lagoon. Participants were tasked with applying their signature styles to an assigned part of the home.

On the first floor, Philip Thomas Vanderford of Studio Thomas James welcomed guests into a White Lotus-inspired entryway equipped with cascading red velvet curtains, and an extended black carpet topped with a rattan alligator rug. With the addition of Romanesque contemporary art and traditional sculptures curated by Jennifer Klos, viewers were transported to a seductive Italian villa–a refreshing deviation from the city's love for pastels.

On the other hand, Amanda Lindroth of Lindroth Designs created an expansive living room inspired by some of her favorite great houses in Europe such as the loggia and winter garden of the Villa Brandolini, which is filled with palm trees, rattan, and wicker. Lindroth's inspirations permeated into her space as she took these elements and transformed the home's great room into a space of relaxation. Nearby, Lucy Doswell curated a gorgeous library that showcased a collection of artworks that felt acquired from experience, not only for aesthetics.

What perhaps was one of the most impressive spaces was also the most challenging. David Frazier used his design prowess to turn a nearly impossible (and surely frustrating) thin U-shaped laundry room and bath into an area reminiscent of a bar or lounge. Strategically, the designer leaned into the lack of light by utilizing cool blue wallpapers and dark marble, with sprinkles of animal motifs.

And then there are the spaces on the second floor which did not lack in thoughtful design, either. On the upstairs landing, Brooklyn-based Delia Kenza brought a contemporary edge to the home with a statement module bench in emerald green that was more comfortable to sit on than it initially appeared. Meghan Grehl did the same, as she presented a marble-like bed frame that came with a glowing feature that, depending on the intensity of the light, would resemble an evanescent seashell. The spirit of New York's Upper East side, another nod to the Manhattan millionaire mass exodus, lived in the maximalist room by Stephen Mooney. Within the jewel-box room, leopard print sat next to Chinoiserie; classic portraiture paintings were placed against abstract works on a gallery wall; and a gorgeous desk tugged at the heart of antique lovers far and wide.

A few other standouts include Katherine Shenaman's highly glamorous dressing room equipped with a fully mirrored wall that could surely please Narcissus himself; Katie Riddler's bedroom that was beautifully adorned with Degournay wallpaper on which they painted blue scrub jays, a native Floridian bird; Eneia White's delicate guest bedroom which utilized a silver and pewter floral wallpaper by Sanderson Design Group, one of the sponsors of the event; and Amy Studebaker's country-home like decor that was watched over by a regal whippet statue.

While the goal for the individuals participating in the show is to hopefully catch the eye of a potential deep-pocketed client, the Kips Bay Showhouse also upholds the community's philanthropic spirit, as the proceeds made from tickets (starting at $40) to public visitors are donated to the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach Country. The show has raised $28 million to date.

The showroom will be open to the public from February 24 to March 19, 2023 with visiting hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For tickets, please visit kipsbaydecoratorshowhouse.org.
