1. H&M Mama Padded-Cup Swimsuit

Best Maternity Swimsuit Under $50

We love H&M for its wide selection of affordable clothes for the whole family, and that, of course, includes expecting mothers. Right now there is a pretty limited selection of maternity swim options to choose from (most of which are plain black), but we expect there will be more one- and two-piece styles released throughout the summer. In the meantime, this adorable scallop-trim suit more than fits the bill, with ruching along the bust and belly to expand with you as the baby grows and there are removeable pads in the top for extra coverage.

2. Cache Coeur Poppy Swimsuit

Best Adjustable One-Piece

Cache Coeur has lots of adorable swimsuits for new mamas, but this particular style is our favorite both for the bright, colorful print and for the adjustable straps and bust. The white shoulder straps tie in back and can be tightened or loosened as your body changes, to see you through the first trimester all the way through post-partem. Plus, the soft luxe fabric has built-in UPF50+ for extra sun protection and is made from Oeko-Tex materials, making this a more eco-friendly option for those with sustainability on the brain.

3. Pink Blush Waist Tie One-Piece

Best Plus-Size Maternity Swimsuit

We’re not going to lie, finding plus-size maternity one-pieces is no easy feat. But there are a few brands that carry cute non-bikini options, like Pink Blush. (Motherhood Maternity is another.) For those who’d rather not bare their belly all summer, Pink Blush has five swimsuits, in more than just plain black, to choose from, but our favorite has to be this wrap design. The tie waist is fully adjustable so you can tighten or loosen it as your body changes, and the straps are also adjustable to better fit longer or shorter torsos. The cups are padded to avoid any nippy situations, and it comes in four color options—black, navy, green and the tropical floral print above.

4. A Pea in the Pod High-Waisted Liberty Bikini

Best High-Waist Bikini

A Pea in the Pod is an excellent place to shop all things pregnancy (including post-partem nursing tops and clothes for baby, too), and the brand’s swimwear has been a hit with mamas for years now. We love the gorgeous red and purple Liberty Print floral, plus the bottoms come with ruching on the side to better fit bellies of all sizes. And there is no true waist band so you won’t feel constricted or limited as you grow. As for the top, parallel straps, which criss-cross in the back offer plenty of bust support without looking dowdy. Truth be told, our only gripe is that you can’t buy the top and bottom in separate sizes.

5. Pez D’Or Isabella Striped Bikini

Best Classic Bikini

If you’d rather show off your baby bump in its entirety, this Pez D’Or bikini is a fabulous timeless option you can wear again and again. The top is fully adjustable and comes with just enough padding to make you feel sufficiently covered without feeling like you’re wearing a push-up. And because the cups are fixed in place on a slightly wider bottom band, you don’t have to worry about them slipping, folding up or generally moving out of place as you swim. The bottoms are cut to fit just below your belly with full coverage at the back, so you won’t feel completely exposed despite having your bump on display.

6. GAP Maternity Recycled Swim Tankini

Best Tankini

The idea of struggling into a full one-piece while pregnant isn’t exactly a fun one for lots of women, but that doesn’t mean they want to show off their belly in a skin-baring bikini. The solution? A chic tankini that offers all the coverage of a swimsuit, with the ease of a two-piece (especially for the inevitable frequent bathroom breaks). This particular GAP design has ruching along the sides of both the top and bottom to adjust as your pregnancy progresses, and the top has a built-in padded shelf bra to give your bust all the coverage and support you crave. The adjustable halter strap is also removeable if you want to avoid tan lines.

7. Summersalt The Maternity Cinched Current

Editor Favorite

Summersalt has long been one of our favorite places to pick up incredibly flattering, well-made swimwear that won’t break the bank. And while the brand doesn’t have many maternity styles (there is currently one one-piece and one bikini, each available in just two colors), they are just as luxurious-feeling and well-fitting as the brand’s non-pregnancy suits. We love that the Cinched Current swimsuit has adjustable straps which cross at the back, and that the material is a bit thicker to offer more support in the areas where you want it most. There are also adjustable pulls at the hips to ensure you find that Goldilocks fit for your torso length and belly size.

8. ASOS Design Layered Frill Swimsuit

Best for the Fashionista

Most maternity swim follows the notion that anything you buy for this pregnancy should be timeless enough to carry you through any future pregnancies, meaning there aren’t many truly trendy options out there. Unless you visit ASOS, that is. The U.K.-based retailer has lots of adorable pregnancy-ready bathing suits both in classic black and more vibrant prints. It also carries a few styles from the brands Wolf & Whistle, Mamlicious and Dorina, and we think it highly likely that more will pop up on site as we head deeper into summer. Oh, and did we mention every suit is under $75?

9. Kindred Bravely One-Piece Swap Swimsuit

Best for Nursing

This adorable ruffled suit will see you through your entire pregnancy and beyond, thanks to Kindred Bravely’s innovative wrap design that makes breast feeding (without requiring you to completely undress) significantly easier. And as any mom will tell you, your body won't immediately go back to the way it looks pre-pregnancy, so having a suit that’s more forgiving and flattering in the belly and bust will serve you well after your bundle of joy arrives. It also comes in classic black and blue-and-white seersucker stripes, and is made with UPF 50 sun protection built right in.

10. Seraphine Front Twist Maternity Swimsuit

Best Little Black Swimsuit

This classic design by Seraphine is incredibly flattering for a multitude of body types while still showing off your baby bump. Ruching along the torso and the front of the bust line help to streamline your curves, and the combo of the halter neck and twist at the center hits right in that Goldilocks point between demure and sexy. The material also feels surprisingly luxe for such an affordable price point, providing ample stretch for your growing body while not forgoing support entirely. The straps also cross in the back to give you even more support.

11. GAP Recycled Ruffled V-Neck One-Piece

Reader Recommended

This cute GAP one-piece came recommended to us from multiple PureWow readers for two main reasons—there are a bunch of fun prints to choose from, and the top fits impeccably on a range of different body types. In addition to the vibrant pink-on-pink floral above, there is also a watercolor-inspired print, black-and-white buds and leopard spots, as well as a few solid neutrals too. And while some reviewers found themselves sizing up to better fit their bums/thighs, everyone agreed that the top was incredibly comfortable and supportive thanks to the trio of built-in padding, adjustable straps and a tie at the back for bonus support that’s also chic. It’s also made from more than 90 percent recycled materials for an eco-friendly boost.

12. Albion The Maria Swimsuit

Best Full-Coverage Suit

More fabric means more sun protection (although you definitely still need plenty of sunscreen), and this Albion suit manages to provide ample coverage without looking dowdy or overly sporty. And although this is not a maternity-specific suit, the stretchy fabric and innovative ruched design along the bodice has plenty of room to accommodate your pregnancy. (That said, we do recommend sizing up one size if you’re hoping to wear this cutie in your third trimester.) The back is more low-cut, though a series of stretchy straps provide both coverage and support, and the shelf-bra bust has removeable pads.

13. Hunza G Seersucker Swimsuit

Best Non-Maternity Maternity Swimsuit

OK, so this Hunza G bestseller is not, in fact, a maternity-specific design. However, the fabric is super stretchy and can adjust to fit your changing body at every stage of pregnancy and even into the fourth trimester and beyond. In fact, this one-piece comes in just one size, with the promise that the brand’s signature Seamless Crinkle Technology will stretch to fit a UK 6 through 16 (roughly a US 2 through 12) without becoming sheer or digging in. The only caveat is that the material isn’t super supportive and there is no internal structure to speak of (i.e., no cups or shelf bra). But as one new mom told us, “This suit is just so comfortable. It was a dream being able to pull it on without any struggle or jumping or tugging so I could just focus on relaxing by the water and enjoying myself.” In fact, she loved that unbeatable comfort so much, she bought this suit in three colors.
