It’s not all primary colours, adhering to the comics code authority and power couples - sometimes it rolls out the blood and guts, turns your favorite role model into a despicable villain, and kills off a much-loved character.

Variant covers are perfect for turning things on their head. With a little creative licence, an artist can go to extremes - and with a horror title, that means ramping up the shock factor and bringing the pain. Here are some of our favourite horror variant covers, just in time for halloween.
