The 6 best luggage tracker tags to buy if you’re paranoid about your bags getting lost this summer

Let’s cut to the chase — losing your luggage is a horrific experience. You arrive at your carefully chosen destination, ready to live it up. Then, suddenly, you realize you don’t have your carefully curated outfits, your 12-step skin care routine or, um, your super expensive suitcase?!

Quick Overview

Luckily, there are ways to make infuriating phone calls with the airline a lot easier. Enter: luggage tracker tags. Or, as I like to call them, super tiny life savers that provide hard evidence that your bag was not, in fact, loaded onto your connecting flight. Can you tell I’ve been scorned?

Anyways, these trackers allow you to follow your bag’s exact location right from your phone and often feature sound signals and other measures to help you retrieve any missing items. They’re the perfect way to keep your travel anxiety under control, and if tragedy strikes, they’re a super helpful second pair of eyes.

Since there are tons of luggage trackers out there, we thought we’d round up a few crowd favorites in six categories:

  1. Best for iPhone: Apple AirTag, $28.99

  2. Best for Android: Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag, $29.99

  3. Best for All Smart Devices: Tile Pro, $31.54 (Orig. $34.99)

  4. Best for International Trips: Tracki GPS Tracker, $15.88

  5. Best Real-Time Updates: LandAirSea 54 GPS Tracker, $29.95

  6. Best Multi-Purpose: Orbitket x Chipolo Bluetooth Tracker V2, $39.90

Keep scrolling for more detailed breakdowns of the best luggage trackers out there. Happy tagging and traveling!

1. Best for iPhone: Apple AirTag, $28.99

I’d pick up one (or tons) and just AirTag everything you own. Everything.

$32 at Amazon

The Apple AirTag may look small, but it can help prevent some major travel disasters. Once the tag is connected to your phone and thrown into your luggage, you can keep tabs on your bag’s location in the “Find My” app. This way, even if your stuff gets lost in transit (godspeed), you’ll know exactly where to start your search. AirTags are also just perfect for keeping track of your everyday items (like that wallet you’re always losing) because they notify you as soon as a tagged item is more than a few feet away.

2. Best for Android: Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag, $29.99

Alright, Android users, we’ve got you.

$30 at Samsung

Much like the AirTag, Samsung’s Smart Tag is a very small and very cute device that you can attach to just about everything. When you’re getting ready for a trip, you can tuck it into your luggage and then kick back, relax, and stalk its location in the SmartThings app. You’ll get live updates when your bag is within 130 yards, but if it’s super far, you can still see a log of its most recent whereabouts. A win is a win!

3. Best for All Smart Devices: Tile Pro, $31.54 (Orig. $34.99)

Amazon

It really brings a tear to my eye when Apple and Android users can peacefully coexist, so I’m a big fan of Tile for promoting unity.

$35 at Amazon

Regardless of the phone you have, you can use the Tile App to keep track of anything that’s been, well, tiled (lol). Plus, these tags have QR codes on the back that give your contact info to anyone who’s found your stuff, allowing for speedy and seamless reunions.

4. Best for International Trips: Tracki GPS Tracker, $15.88

FYI: This one requires a monthly fee to access the app (available on all phones!).

$13 at Amazon

This Tracki tracker promises instant location updates over unlimited distances, making it kind of essential for any trip out of the country. It mainly uses GPS satellites to keep track of your item’s location, but if things get crazy and your bag ends up out of range, Wi-Fi routers take over to make sure you can keep an eye on things. Oh, just FYI, you’ll have to pay a monthly fee to access the app (available on all phones!).

5. Best Real-Time Updates: LandAirSea 54 GPS Tracker, $29.95

I love how sleek this one is.

$40 at Amazon

This tracker offers tons of payment plans that determine how often you get location updates — the fastest option (at $49.95/month) delivers them every three seconds, and the “slowest” option (at $19.95/month) delivers them every three minutes. Regardless of what you choose, this option will keep you in tune with your luggage over any distance. Just be sure to charge it up pre-travel!

6. Best Multi-Purpose: Orbitkey X Chipolo Bluetooth Tracker V2, $39.90

You can also grab this one in black!

$40 at Orbitkey

Alright, so this is a great luggage tracker and all (super sleek, easy to track location data in the Chipolo app), but what really gets me is that it’s also a Bluetooth remote. Yup, when you safely arrive at your destination with your luggage in tow, you can remove the tracker and use it to snap group photos without that awkward selfie arm or having to ask strangers. They really think of everything these days.
