Welcome to our iPad Prime Day deals live blog. We're coming towards the end of Prime Day 2023, but there are still iPad deals available - both exclusive Prime Day iPad deals and general discounts that are available to non-members.

We've been covering Amazon Prime Day iPad deals for the last eight years, so we know what we're looking for. We're tracking prices on all current iPads in order to provide you will the price history and analysis to decide if a deal is really worth buying. We've also reviewed all recent iPads hands on, so we know which models are best for different needs.

There are official Prime Day iPad deals on the newest entry-level iPad, the 2022 iPad 10, in both the US and UK. You'll need to be an Amazon Prime member (or sign up for a free trial) to grab these. But we're also seeing non-exclusive iPad deals on other models at Amazon and elsewhere.

Check specifications in our iPad generations list if you're not sure about which is the best Apple tablet for you. For more Apple deals, check out our main Apple Prime Day hub and our MacBook Prime Day live blog, which is also running now. Happy deal hunting.

Two 9th Gen iPads stand back to back, and side on.
Two 9th Gen iPads stand back to back, and side on.

OK! To kick things off I'm picking my favourite iPad. No, it's not the most recent 10th Gen model, but the previous 9th Gen, 2021 model. Surprisingly, this is not a Pro, and not an Air – this is the standard iPad, and before the 10th Gen shifted the specs up into the territory of the Air, the 9th Gen iPad was what I'd call a classic iPad.

And the deal? It's down from $329 to $279 over at Amazon. This is not an official Prime Day deal, so you don't need a Prime membership to get it. Will it be bettered this Tuesday and Wednesday? Maybe. But at $279, it's a great deal as it is.

There's also a deal on the latest 10th gen iPad, which has been around on and off for a few months now – but it is still the lowest price we've seen it go for. You can pick it up for $399 at Amazon – $50 less than the RRP of $449.

This iPad is the one that catapulted the iPad standard into the spec territory of the Air, confusing buyers everywhere (including us, see our iPad 2022 10th gen review here for more). The upgrades mean there's no longer a 'standard iPad' if you don't need all the extra goodness like a bunch of power and a bigger screen, but who are we to complain, really? And this offer means it is more attractive than when it was full price.

In the UK? There's nothing earth-shattering around yet but if you're in the market for the latest iPad Pro, you'll be interested in this bit of price context. There's four percent off the 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB versions right now – for example, Amazon has the 256GB on sale for £975.13. This is an interesting one, because though four per cent doesn't sound like a lot, it is actually lowest-price territory for a couple of these configurations.

However, our delve into the price history shows they've been at that level for quite a while (some a bit more fluctuating than others) so it is worth holding on until Prime Day actually begins – if you're not in an iPad emergency and you're happy to wait until then.

The 2TB iPad has a more impressive 10 per cent off, but it's way off its record-low price (by a massive £500), so we wouldn't recommend pressing that button just yet.

Clicking around through the various colour and storage options can serve up some surprise extra discounts. For example, this deal on the iPad mini on Amazon can save you between five and eight per cent depending on the colour/size (note: none of these deals are standout – they're all quite a way off their lowest prices ever but this context is useful for deal hunting.)

The best option is on the 256GB Starlight configuration, which is cut by $50 from $649 to $599 (still $60 off its lowest-ever price, by the way, though this isn't a terrible deal). The other colours are reduced by just five per cent to $617.

If you'd rather the 64GB version, the only colour not reduced is the pink iPad – the rest have the same six per cent discount – reduced from $499 to $469 (lowest price ever was $399).

We hope to see these prices fall further, and we'll keep you in the loop as and when things change.

If you're buying an iPad with the plan to use it for drawing or even just notetaking, you're probably going to want to pick up an Apple Pencil too. We do have a guide to the best Apple Pencil alternatives if you think you can make do with a more economical stylus, but there's really no comparison to Apple's stylus, especially for drawing.

Fortunately, the second gen Apple Pencil is close to the lowest price we've ever seen: Apple Pencil 2 $129 now $89 at Amazon US.  That's a saving of $40 and is only $4 higher than the record low price of $84.99, which we saw for only a couple of days early in June.

Apple Pencil 2 is compatible with new iPad Pros, Airs and minis but NOT the standard iPad - for that you'll need Apple Pencil 1, which is reduced from $99 to $79 at Amazon US.

Prime Day AirPods deal
Prime Day AirPods deal

The other iPad accessory that some find essential is a pair of AirPods, especially if you'll be using your tablet on the move and to work in cafes or other shared spaces. Fortunately you should never have to pay full price for these, and now is no exception since there's a discount available on every model.

Our top pick is the latest Air Pods Pro 2 (read our review to see why). That $50 is pretty much a perennial discount at Amazon now, so really make sure you don't pay more than that. If the deal's gone when you're looking to buy, hold fire for a while because it will almost certainly be back within a week or so irrespective of whether it's Prime Day or not.

In the UK, the AirPods Pro are reduced by just £10 from £249 to £239.

Back to Prime Day iPad deals, though. Below we've already mentioned deals on the entry-level iPads and on the iPad Pro. But the best iPad for a lot of people (i.e., people that want to do a bit of work on the device but don't need Pro processing power for heavy graphics work), is the trusty iPad Air, a tablet that's almost an iPad Pro in many ways but has a much more appealing price tag.

It comes in two storage configurations, 64GB and 246GB. The former is not very much storage at all for the size to today's media files but if you're not going to be saving images or video locally it might be fine. If you'll be working with video or images on the device, you'll probably want the larger option unless you're saving everything to the cloud.

Happily there are deals on both, but it depends on the colour you want. Amazon has the latest 2022 iPad Air 246GB for $749 now $640 if you click the little box to apply the coupon for the extra $29 saving (no, I don't know why they do it like that; it's something to do with them not allowing to advertise lower prices), but this only applies to the 'Blue' and 'Space Grey' colours.

As for the 64GB version, there's $40 off on every colour. But again, make sure you pay close attention to that little coupon button below the price, because the blue and Space Grey models have the option to add a coupon for an extra $59 off, for a total saving of $100.

All in all, iPad deals aren't looking bad considering that Prime Day doesn't actually start until Tuesday, and I have my doubts about whether the discounts will get much bigger than what we're already seeing on many models.

If you're looking for one of the cheaper iPads - the standard iPad or iPad Air, the deals we're seeing at the moment are as cheap as these models usually get, so I'd be surprised if we see better deals during Prime Day.

On the other hand, if you're in the US and planning to buy an iPad Pro, I'd hold fire for now because we're not seeing any really decent deals on the latest Pros yet. Amazon has $50 off the 12.9 inch 2022 iPad Pro but only with a 128GB SSD, which isn't really going to allow you to make much use of its Pro specs.

It's a slightly different story in the UK, where Amazon has some small savings on the iPad Pro across a range of configurations.

We're taking a little break from the blog for now, but rest assured that we'll be back tomorrow and through Tuesday and Wednesday to continue to track the best Prime Day iPad deals available.

The back of a 9th Gen iPad in a wood desktop.

Back in the room! I've had a nap, got some fresh air, drunk far too much coffee already, and I'm back on it... and right away there's some good news for people looking for a classic iPad. The first deal that I reported on here has actually been bettered!

You can get the 9th Gen iPad, with A13 Bionic chip, 64G SSD and 12/8MP cameras for $269.99, down from $329.99. That's and extra $10 less than when I reported on it over the weekend.

Now, I really like this deal for a couple of reasons. First, this is my choice of budget drawing tablet / general streaming tablet. In our review, we noted that although it doesn't have Apple Pencil 2 compatibility, it's still offers a great screen and swift power for the price. Now that you're saving $60, it's an even better tab.

Secondly, I prefer this to the most recent 10th Gen iPad. It knows that it's an iPad, and isn't trying to compete with its bigger brother the iPad Air (like the 10th Gen does). Out of all the deals I've covered so far, this is the best.

Hellooooooo, it's Tech Reviews Editor Erlingur here, freshly showered and caffeinated for the day ahead. Now, I'm still waiting for that one mind-blowing Prime Day deal to arrive for any iPad. You know, the one that makes me think 'oh, even I, a notoriously stingy consumer, might go for this.' But quite interestingly, the one that comes closest for me at the moment, before the Prime Day flood wave officially hits, is not on Amazon. And it's not even for the most recent iPad.

Nope, it's for a 4th-gen 64GB, 10.9-inch iPad Air (the 2020 spec), and it's on Walmart. Discounted from the original $629.99, it's now only $469. Bad news though if you're pining after the Rose Gold-skinned model (like the desert's missed the rain), they only have the Space Grey available. It's all the same on the inside though, thankfully. Our review is one of the most glowing for any iPad, past or present, and despite its relative age, it's still supremely capable.

We've told you about the Amazon deal on the 5th-gen iPad Air 10.9 with the M1 chip, where the 64GB version is a cool $100 off, down to $499. Well, if 64 gigabytes just doesn't cut it for you, the 256GB one is also $100 off now! I like lots of apps, and if you like lots of apps, and especially if those apps are a bit power-intensive (like graphic-design, photo-editing or art ones),  that extra space can come in very handy.

Originally going for $749, the 256GB iPad Air M1 (2021), is now only $649 on Amazon, and if grey bores you, it's also available for that price in blue, pink and purple. This is the lowest price we've ever seen this model at, so I'm very tentatively clanging the RECORD LOW bell right now...

A product shot of the 2021 Apple iPad

And now for a little warning. We're here to help you find great Prime Day deals on iPads, but when looking for good UK deals, I found one thing I feared: a fake, or at least disingenuous 'discount'. The 9th-generation iPad with 256GB storage and 10.2-inch screen is being advertised for "£50 off", or only £499, down from £549.

On the face of it, this is a very decent deal, 9% off a good product that's notoriously hard to find in sales, but I decided to dig a little deeper, and found out that the RRP was only raised to £549 in early-2023, and was in fact only for sale at that price for a few days in February. From the time it went on sale in 2021 and until Christmas 2022, it never went above £460 on Amazon, and has been sold for as little as £399 on there last year.

So our advice here is: Wait and make them lower the price to an actual discount.

This 5th gen iPad Air has just returned to its lowest ever price of $799.99 (reduced from $899.99) at Amazon for the 256GB and from $749 to $649 for the 64GB (click through to find the option). Sure, it's not a new price but it hasn't been lower. However, we do hope this'll fall further so it's one to keep your eye on if you can wait a little bit longer.

If you're needing to save some money on an iPad a renewed model is a pretty good option. At the moment Amazon is offering a renewed 2021 11-inch iPad (128GB)  reduced from $1,199.99 to $629.95. With a 90 day guarantee, this iPad is in excellent condition according to Amazon's specifications. It's not an option for everyone but there's a lot to say for going down the renewed route.

iPad

The 9th generation iPad is already by far the best value Apple offers when it comes to tablets, but with £50 off at Amazon UK, it's a steal. £319 is close to the lowest price we've seen for this model (which Apple still sells for £369) – and with Apple Pencil and iPadOS 17 support, it's nothing if not future-proof.

Amazon in the US also has a ridiculously good deal on the 9th generation iPad, bringing the price down from $329 to $269. Just over 250 bucks for an iPad is outrageously good value, and almost the cheapest we've seen for this model.

The new 10th generation iPad confused us a bit on launch last year, with its Apple Pencil 1 support and surprisingly high price. But we're coming round to it – that edge-to-edge display is a real improvement and we're loving the Magic Keyboard Folio attachment. Amazon US is currently offering it for $50 off at $399, which also solves the price issue somewhat.

Here's one of the best iPad deals we've seen so far. The iPad Air, one of the best options for most people thanks to its mid-level power and mid-level price, is currently $100 off at Amazon, down from $599 to $499 for the 64GB version. We called it "an incredible computer for the price, delivering a notepad-sized package with the power of a MacBook Pro," in our review.

Readers in the UK can also save on the latest iPad Air, although not quite as much. It's reduced from £849 to £819 for the 256GB model and from £669 to £615 for the 64GB version. Again, both of those deals are at Amazon.

iPad Prime Day deal
iPad Prime Day deal

We mentioned a little while ago that one of the best iPad deals in the UK is on the entry-level 10.2-inch iPad, reduced to £319, but actually you can save a few pounds more. Also on Amazon, there's another listing knocking about for the 2021 iPad 10.2 64GB priced at just £314.98. That's still not the cheapest price we've ever seen (that was £298.99 in August to October last year), but it's the cheapest price we've seen since Apple bumped the starting price up early this year.

Erm... I think something's gone wrong with Very's iPad deals. It has last year's enhanced entry-level iPad reduced from £499.... to £593? Incredibly, it claims these deals are selling fast.

Prime Day iPad deals
Prime Day iPad deals

I'm still trying to work out what's going on with these iPad prices are Very. The deals below are marked as £15 savings, which would mean the price should be £484, which is the same price that the iPad 10.9 is on sale for at Amazon UK. But I can't see how that ended up as £573.

And the mistake isn't just on this one device. The store's also advertising the 2022 iPad Air reduced by £54 from £669.... to £754. I thought maybe they had confused the prices of the WiFi and cellular version of the tablets, but that doesn't make sense either. There's even one iPad 10 advertised as having a £9 saving when the price is £100 higher than the RRP. The current prices are surely mistakes but it makes me wonder if they will actually charge those inflated prices are check out.

Where Very does have a genuine deal is on the iPad 9, reduced from £369 to £319, close to the price on Amazon.

I have a feeling Very is probably trying to offer some genuine iPad deals there but has been hampered by a bizarre mix up with the numbers. But the safest bet if you're looking for an iPad deal in the UK remains Amazon, where the 2022 iPad 10 is reduced from £499 to £484.97 for the 64GB wifi configuration.

Prime Day iPad deals

There are iPad mini deals about in the UK too, although when I say deals... they're only discounts because Apple increased the starting price of the mini when it released the iPad 10 last year. Effectively they mean you get to pay the original price rather than the inflation-adjusted price, but at least that's something.

Amazon has the iPad mini with 64GB storage for £569 £529.99. If you want more storage space, the best price for the 256GB configuration is at Laptopsdirect, where it's reduced to £724.97.

That should help you get an idea of the main differences between the different models so you avoid buying one that doesn't meet your needs (or one that's way much more than what you need).

Have a quick read up because in just over five minutes time, Prime Day official gets underway in the UK, and we'll be reporting here on whether there are any genuine exclusive Prime Day iPad deals.

Prime Day iPad deals
Prime Day iPad deals

Amazon Prime Day 2023 has just gone live in the UK, and there are Prime Day iPad deals to be had! In fact, there are more iPad deals than we were expecting.

Starting at the cheapest, the 2021 iPad 10.2 is reduced from £369 to £299  - that almost matches the record low price that we saw in the autumn of last year.

This is the entry-level iPad in its 64GB configuration. It's not a pro device for demanding video editing, and not the best iPad for drawing either since it supports Apple Pencil 1 not 2, but for people that just want a tablet for browsing the internet, email and general work, there's no need to pay any more than this super value price.

But even better, Amazon Prime members can grab last year's larger and more powerful iPad 10.9 for a record low UK price of £499 £439. The lowest price we have seen in the UK before was £469 in December last year.

Remember that to take advantage of these exclusive Prime Day deals, you'll need to be a Prime member, but you can always sign up for a free trial to get the discount.

Finally, Amazon UK also has an exclusive Prime Day iPad deal on the 2022 iPad Air, reduced from £669 to £579. This isn't an all-time low because Apple inflated the price of this tablet above its original starting price late last year, but this is the cheapest price that we've seen in the UK in 2023.

Apple Pencil Prime Day deal

If you're tempted by that Prime Day iPad Air deal at Amazon UK (see below) and you want to use the tablet for drawing, you'll want to pick up an Apple Pencil 2 as well. The good news there is that it's also in the UK Amazon Prime sale, reduced from £129 to £99, which is equal to the lowest price we've seen on the 2nd gen stylus in the UK.

Apple iPad Prime Day deal
Apple iPad Prime Day deal

The one recent iPad that doesn't have an official Prime Day deal on it in the UK is the iPad Pro, but there are some general discounts running at Amazon, and these are available to everyone.

You can get an iPad Pro 11 from £899 £860 for the 128GB configuration. That might not seem like a massive discount, but the price has only fallen lower than this once, which was in December last year. The entry configuration doesn't give you a lot of storage space, but the same 4% saving applies to all configurations up to the 2TB model, which has a more generous 10% off. There's 4% off most iPad Pro 12 configurations too.

Apple iPad Prime Day deal

These UK Prime Day iPad deals have increased my expectations a little for what we might see in the US. At the last Prime members event in November (the strangely named 'Early Access Sale', there was only one official Prime Day iPad deal, and it was in the UK, but with deals across the standard iPads and iPad Air this time round, including a record low price of £439 on the iPad 10, it seems like Amazon's making more of a commitment to the event this time around.

We'll soon see if that's mirrored on the other side of the Atlantic. We're taking a break for now, but we'll be back to continue the live blog and report on the best iPad Prime Day deals stateside.

All four colour options of the 10th Gen iPad bunched together.
All four colour options of the 10th Gen iPad bunched together.

Good morning (from the UK). And here's an official Prime Day deal that's well worth your consideration – and it's just got better in the last couple of hours.

Last night we reported on the pink model of the latest 10th Gen iPad (2022) being cut by $50. Well now Amazon has released all colour models with a $70 discount on all of them, down from $449 to $379.99.

Remember, we will be covering official and unofficial Prime Day deals, but for this one you will need a Prime account. Grab your 30-day free trial if you don't have an account (which you can cancel before you pay).

Aaaaaand, along comes another blinder!

If you're in the market for a classic iPad, the 9th Gen iPad has just had a price drop in the last few hours. Last night (UK time) it was down to $269, and now it's down to $249.99 from $329, saving you $70.

And the kicker? It's not an official Prime Day deal. You don't need a Prime membership to get this awesome iPad. And Awesome it is. To my mind, the 9th Gen iPad was the last 'proper' standard iPad, before the 10th Gen iPad started upping the specs (and price tag) and delving into iPad Air territory.

This iPad is also the last standard iPad to have the curved edges, and finger ID unlock button.

I've got a mini update for you this morning. No, it's not a teeny-tiny discount, but in fact a rather sizeable deal on the iPad mini, as the 6th Gen model with 256GB storage and the A15 Bionic chip is now at a record-low price on Prime Day in the US, tumbling from $649 down to $529.99 at Amazon. That's a good $10 cheaper than we've ever tracked it at, so if you want the itty-bittiest iPad for the itty-bittiest price it's ever gone for, now is the time to do so.

This just in for US readers, you can now save $100 on the Apple iPad Air (5th Generation) 2022 model with an M1 chip and 256GB of storage which is now just $649.99 on Amazon US. This deal includes the Space Gray, Pink, Blue, and Purple variants but NOT the Starlight colour which is listed a little higher at $679.

This iPad Air was originally listed for $749, $100 dearer, and this new price is the lowest we've ever seen on Amazon with a -13% price cut. Is this deal worth grabbing? In all honesty, it's unlikely that we'll see this 5th Gen Air model any cheaper than this, and to give you some price context - competitors such as Target are still selling this model for $749, and Walmart for $739.95.

You don't need to be a Prime member to bag this deal, but for the best possible savings you might want to start up a 30-day free trial to ensure you aren't missing out on anything, and you get to watch Prime movies and have access to Amazon music too.

The 9th generation iPad is still incredible value over at Amazon UK right now, down from £369 to £299. Sure, it doesn't feature the newer all-screen design and Apple Pencil 2 support, but with the A13 bionic chip and iPadOS 17 support, it's as future proof as it gets – and the mere fact that you can bag an iPad for under £300 is pretty remarkable.

Amazon US's Prime Day deals on the cheaper 64GB version of the 2022 iPad 10 appear to have sold out now, but there are still Prime Day deals on the 256GB version, in both the wifi and wifi + cellular configuration.

It's interesting that official Prime Day iPad deals in the US are confined to the new iPad 10, but it makes sense that Amazon would see this as the most appealing iPad in Apple's line up for most people. We said as much in our review of the 2022 iPad back in October last year.

Although it still only supports Apple Pencil 1, it feels more like an iPad Air than the iPad 9, with a bigger, brighter screen and cool colour options. After initial doubts, we decided that the upgrades justified the increase in price - and not the price is at a record low. Amazon UK is holding up better for stock - it still has Prime Day deals on all configurations of the tablet: both wifi and wifi + cellular, 64GB and 256GB.

You might be wondering which iPad you should go for. After all, there's a lot of skin in the financial game if you wind up going for a model you don't need. Added to that, the latest upgrades on the lineup have confused things further because the Air has become almost as powerful as the Pro, and the standard iPad has almost reached the heights of the previous Air (with a price hike to match).

See our iPad Pro vs iPad Air article to find out which of the two you should go for. Thinking of the classic iPad? See our iPad 2022 review.

The obvious question to consider if you're looking at official Prime Day iPad deals and you're not already a Prime member is whether the deal is good enough to bother signing up to Amazon Prime for. The good news is that you can get a one-month free trial of Prime, so joining doesn't necessarily have to cost anything if you don't plan to continue the subscription, but it does mean having to remember to unsubscribe and an extra bit of clicking.

I'd say the Prime Day iPad 10 and iPad Air deals in the UK offer big enough differences from the prices of other retailers to be worth it. The good old iPad 9 perhaps less so. Sure, the Amazon Prime price of £299 is almost a record low, but Very has it for £319, only £20 more.

Alas, there are not official Prime Day iPad deals on the powerful iPad Pros. However, there are a few savings to be had, particularly in the UK, where Amazon and Very are tying neck-and-neck matching each other's prices down to the penny. Both are offering discounts of up to £113.78.

It's fairly unusual for there to be more discounts in the UK than in the US, but there are only a few of very small discounts on new iPad Pros in the US. B&H Photo has the $50 off the 2022 M2 iPad Pro 12.9 in a couple of configurations and $30 off the iPad Pro 11.

If you don't mind an older used tablet, there's a pretty good deal on renewed 2021 iPad Pro 11s right now. At $625, it's almost half the price of what it would cost new. Sure, this isn't new, but given how well Apple products retain their value, that's one of the best deals we've seen on a renewed iPad. I wouldn't be surprised if it sells out at this price.

Day 2 of Prime Day is upon us, and we'll be here throughout the day to continue seeking out the best iPad deals. We're taking a break for a couple of hours, but we'll be back.

In the meantime, we'll remind you that there are record low prices on the iPad 10 in both the US and the UK, although the 64GB version has sold out in the US. All of the deals listed above were still live at the time of writing, so there are some decent savings to be had (although we'd like to see some better deals on the Pros!).

We'll be back later. Good night.

Morning all! We're back up in the UK, scouring the deals for the second and last official day of Prime Day. And I'm going to be a little controversial here – my favourite  iPad deal that I can see right now isn't actually an official Amazon Prime Day deal (you won't need a Prime membership to claim it).

Get the 9th Gen (one but last) iPad down from $329 for just $249.99.

You may think that, as this isn't an official Prime deal, this price will be low for longer than today. But Amazon seems to do this sort of thing – bring down prices for non-Prime deals over Prime, and then boost them up after. They obviously know that there are a lot of non-Prime members shopping, and so want to cater to them. Well, this is the best non-Prime deal I can see right now.

If you're a student, Prime Day is basically 365 days of the year, as you can head over to the official Apple site and get some considerable discounts on the recent models.

For example, right now, if you're a student or teacher, Apple is offering $100 off the iPad Pro (12.9-inch, M2) plus a free gift card of $100 on your next purchase from Apple. Now, this is only for a small section of our readers, but students need all the financial help they can get, and as long as they're thinking of another purchase from Apple, we think this is a seriously good deal. And seeing as the best deal we're seeing on that model of iPad Pro is only bringing the price down to $1,049, this is well worth shouting about.

Mini update alert! For many creatives, the power of the Pros are what's needed, especially if you're editing video on the move. But for digital artists – and people with small hands – the iPad mini is kind of perfect. And especially with the current Prime deal price we're seeing it sell for right now.

When we reviewed it, we gave it a near perfect score, calling it the "ultra-portable sketching, note-taking and photo editing device of your dreams." Take $120 off the price, and it's still all those things, but also now an amazing bargain.

The iPad Mini, 64GB, 6th-generation, with A15 chip, 8.3-inch display, and 12MP camera is currently at the lowest price ever. 'Nuff said.

Two iPad Airs appear in mid-air, screens showing some 3D renders.

The iPad Air often doesn't get much of a look in around Prime Day, such is the popularity of the two ends of iPad family – the standard iPad and the iPad Pro. And maybe that's something to do with the marketing of the Air. Who is it really aimed at? What's the average user, and what do they (can they) do with it?

When we reviewed the 5th Gen iPad Air in 2022, we saw it as elbowing into the Pro territory, blurring the lines between the two models. But at a lower price! You see, it has the M1 chip, which is pretty awesome, and suited to pretty much all users other than the high end pros.

Of course, with the Pros adoption of the M2 chip, distinctions have reformed, and if you're looking for a large nearly-13-inch screen, the Pro is your only option. But if you want portability, speed, style and a great screen for accuracy, the iPad Air, 5th Gen is a corker.

While we continue to bring you the best iPad deals out there, it's also worth thinking about how you're going to take care of your new iPad when you snap up the Prime deal of your choosing.

Luckily, we've got a list of the best iPad cases currently available, from straight up cases that protect your iPad, to cases that also house a keyboard (pictured). You can find examples of both in our guide, or you could go straight to get the official Apple case, and the official Apple case/keyboard direct.

We're over halfway though the Prime Day event now. iPad deals in the UK aren't as burning hot as we'd like, though there are some good ones around.

If you'd rather consider an iPad alternative, we reccomend this really really good price on a Surface Pro 9, which is slashed from £1,009 to £749 at Amazon.  Sure, it's more of a 2-in-1 than a straight down the line tablet, but it's a brilliant all rounder and a contender to the iPad Pro. When we reviewed it we gave it four stars, and loved that it runs with full software, and the design and build.

Amazon Warehouse is a great place to have a scout around if you're up for a renewed product. And on Prime Day, selected items on there get an extra 20-30% discount for Prime members (depending on which region you're in).

Here is a post on Amazon Warehouse explaining the whole thing.

Let's do a reminder of the Apple Student discount, shall we? We've got a handy post right here on the subject, but essentially it's a discount for students at Apple. Which should have been clear.

But how much? I hear you ask. Well it depends on what you're buying. There are discounts of $100 or so across a lot of MacBooks. Plus you get a $150 Apple gift card when you make a purchase (offer running until October 2023).

So what's our favourite offer so far? Well one of them is certainly this one on the newest iPad 256GB. Bringing it to under $530 is something we've longed for ever since the updated specs pushed it out of the 'affordable' price bracket.

But if you're not fussed about having the newest kid on the block it's probably this one on the 9th gen iPad, reduced from $329.00 to $249.99.

What's the difference between the two? Well, the design and colours. But more importantly, the new version has a newer, speedier chip, a 16-core Neural Engine vs an 8-core one, a 12mp camera rather than 8mp – and the new version records video in 4K. And those are just some key differences.

But if you want an entry-level iPad, this 9th gen version is a great bet.

A quick reminder that Prime Day will be ending in the UK sooner than you think, so checkout any items you have in your basket before they return to normal prices. US folk – you have a bit more time!

We're just 7 hours away from the end of Prime Day 2023 here in the UK, and usually by this point on day 2 everyone has already made the big purchases that they were holding out for. If you already own one of the latest and best iPad's, then cease the Prime Day savings as an opportunity to get some lower-priced accessories for your new iPad.

We recommend these top deals on the Apple Pencil 2 now just £99 down from £139, saving you £40! And not forgetting this deal on the Apple Magic Mouse in Black now just £65 down from £99. So if you need a pencil and mouse combo, you've already saved yourself over £75 by purchasing them today instead of tomorrow.

We've reported lots on this absolutely fantastic 9th-gen iPad deal on Amazon with 64GB of storage reduced from $329.00 to $249.99 in the US, and reduced from £369 to £299 in the UK.

But did you know that the same model with 256GB of storage also has an attention-worthy discount? The iPad (9th-gen) 10.2 inch WiFi model has been reduced from $479 to $389 in the US and from £549 £474 in the UK.

Remember, time is running out in the UK if you want to snatch this deal.

We've found a deal on the iPad Air 5th Gen so great, that we've included it as part of our definitive top 3 picks of the best Apple deals this Prime Day.

We picked this iPad Air deal due to the large $100 saving, as well as the fact that this is the current record-low price of this iPad in the US. With the M1 chip and Apple Pencil 2 support, it feels more like an iPad Pro than an Air. However, with a $100 saving, it's perhaps more attractive than a Pro right now. This price is for the 246GB   version, but there's also $100 off the 64GB model.

Prime Day tablet deal
Prime Day tablet deal

Okay, I know this is going to be controversial coming in a Prime Day iPad blog, but I feel I must put a word in for the competition. As much as we love the iPad (and an iPad of some form tops most of our tablet buying guides), we have been very impressed by the last couple of Surface Pro tablets from Microsoft, which have the benefit of running Windows desktop software rather than slimmed-down mobile apps (I'm actually writing this blog on a Surface Pro 9).

So, I feel I should point out that there are currently much better deals on the Surface Pro than on the iPad Pro. The Surface Pro 9 with i7, 16GB RAM and 512GB storage (the device I'm using right now and which I routinely use for photo and video editing when I'm travelling) is reduced from $1,899 to $1,599 at Amazon. That's not the cheapest price on record, but it's close (and it's cheaper than what I paid for it!)

But the Pro 9 was only really an incremental upgrade from the 8, so I reckon the best Surface Pro deal right now if you don't need a lot of memory or storage is on this previous model. Amazon has the 8GB RAM, 128GB storage Surface Pro 8 down from $1,099.99 to just $650. In both cases there are discounts on other configurations too. Just note that while it has some advantages over an iPad, the Surface Pro is inferior in some areas, most notably the drawing experience, which can't compete with Apple Pencil 2 on an iPad Pro or Air.

But if you must insist on an iPad Pro, I'm afraid the best I can do is $50 off the latest iPad Pro 12.9 in the US and £53 off in the UK. Here's a picture of someone using one (perhaps she's discovering why we rate this tablet as the second best drawing tablet despite it not being specifically a drawing tablet)

Prime Day drawing tablet deal

Speaking of drawing, if you're specifically looking for a drawing tablet, there's a lightning Prime Day deal running on our favourite, the Xencelabs Wireless Drawing Tablet Medium, which has topped our buying guide since its release. It's not the flashiest drawing tablet, but we found it to offer what we want from a pen tablet for tremendously good value (and we reviewed it long  before this 20% off Prime Day deal).

It's now priced $359.99 $287.99 for Prime members, which matches the lowest price on record, last seen in December.

Back to iPads though, since that what we're mainly here for! We'll be taking a break shortly as Prime Day comes to a close in the UK. I think it's highly unlikely that there will be any new late Prime Day iPad deals anywhere else either, so we can safely say that the deals listed above are definitively the best iPad deals that you're going to get this Prime Day.

The only official Prime Day iPad deal in the US remains on the colourful new 2022 iPad 10. Stock on the 64GB WiFi configuration remains sold out, but you can get the 256GB WiFi iPad 10 for $599 $529.99 - a record low price - and the 64GB WiFi + cellular iPad 10 also for $599 $529.99 (no stock on the 256GB WiFi + cellular).

We'll be back later to provide an update on whether any of the deals above are still live after Prime Day itself has ended.
