Trader Joe’s is the mecca for so many items, but if we’re being candid, sometimes the produce department is lacking just a bit. In all fairness, there are plenty of factors as to why fruits and vegetables aren’t always at their freshest, and it’s not necessarily TJ’s fault.

However, before you scurry right past the produce section, you should definitely take advantage of some of the Trader Joe's selection, especially since prices are way more affordable, compared to other markets. No matter what you buy, just make sure to check for any mold or bruises. Those are signs of spoilage that indicate the produce is past its prime.

Sumo Citrus

This variety of citrus may not be the most pleasing to the eye, but these oranges are perhaps some of the most delicious fruit you’ll ever have. Sumo citrus originated in Japan, and is a combination of satsuma and mandarin oranges.
