Best Florida Keys Resorts

See the Florida Keys in style.

The string of islands that make up the Florida Keys arc southwest from the tip of Florida, creating a coral cay archipelago that’s a prime destination for water sports including fishing, boating, and snorkeling. They’re also one of the best places to splash out on a luxe resort and catch up on some relaxation.

The good news is that there’s ample accommodation in the Keys — the bad news is that it can be difficult to narrow down the options. Here are a few favorites.

Little Palm Island Resort and Spa on Little Torch Key is a place to get away from it all — guests aren’t even allowed to use cell phones in public. No one seems to mind, instead appreciating the lack of people disturbing the tranquility by squawking into their phones. The resort is filled with little touches that make it feel both secluded and luxurious. The suites are in bungalows with thatched roofs and thick, gauzy mosquito netting around the beds; there are outdoor showers, soaking tubs, and turndown service options including one with candles and chocolate-covered strawberries.

The Moorings Village in Islamorada is another idyllic place to indulge. One of the best parts of staying in Islamorada, which is less than 100 miles from Miami, is the namesake, dramatic purple sunset that lights the sky every night. The Moorings Village is located on what used to be a coconut plantation, and coconut palms still abound, including on the private white-sand beach just steps from the cottages. There are only 18 units on the property, and plenty of activities are available for guests, including paddle boards and kayaks, a fitness center, and a pool.

At the far end of the Keys, in Key West, the Waldorf Astoria Casa Marina is only a few years shy of celebrating its centennial anniversary, and offers guests chic, modern accommodation with a touch of old-fashioned Key West thrown in. The resort overlooks a private beach on the Atlantic Ocean side of the Keys, with palm trees dotting the coast. The rooms use a clean, white color palette and look out on the pool, the beach, or the surrounding neighborhood. There’s also a fitness center, yoga classes, and an on-site spa, and for guests who want to get even more spoiled, in-room spa services. The pool has ocean views and is encircled by palm trees, and the historic old town is just a short walk away.
