Here are 6 of the best faux fur blankets you need in your home if you’re all about cozy, luxe vibes

There’s something about a faux fur throw blanket that makes a room feel cozier. Maybe it’s the soft feel or the luxe look of the material, but draping one on your sofa can instantly signal a warmer vibe. You don’t need me to go into detail about why faux fur blankets are better than real fur ones, but not all vegan versions are great. Here, on this list of the best faux fur blankets, we share the ones that are the softest, best-looking, most durable and most popular overall amongst shoppers like you and me.

In addition to their softness, faux fur blankets are hefty. While they aren’t necessarily weighted blankets, they are thick and provide added weight when compared to, say, a fleece or cashmere knit. That makes them all the more cozy! However, it can also make them a little difficult to wash. Luckily, all of the options on this list, minus one, are machine washable. You can wash them in cold water on gentle cycle, and some you can even toss in the dryer (although, I recommend hang-drying them to preserve softness).

Additionally, you should know that I’m kind of an expert in the category. I’ve owned a lot of faux fur blankets over the years and currently have four in my own apartment. This season, I’ll probably add another to the collection. Alas, based on my own experience and testing those out in the market, here are the best faux fur blankets money can buy.

Anthropologie’s Sophie Faux Fur Throw Blanket is a best seller year after year. It comes in 11 colors, including neutrals like gray, beige and ivory, as well as bold hues like green, hot pink and mint. It’s also an extra large size at 60 inches by 70 inches — perfect for draping over a king-size bed or curling up with on the sofa. Keep in mind: This blanket is dry-clean only.

UnHide is a faux fur brand that makes the fluffiest blankets ever. They’re super plush, hence why they’re named “marshmallow,” and they’re slightly weighted (9.5 pounds each!) to give you an extra cuddly feel. On one side, it’s super soft faux fur, and on the other, it has quality velvet fabric. Plus, it’s machine washable. Get it in 14 colors.

[Editor’s Note: Recently, my dog so lovingly got sick on my UnHide Marshmallow blanket, and it looks and feels the same after washing.]

You can’t make a list of the best faux fur blankets without including UGG! The brand practically invented cozy. Its website has a few blanket options, but you can find even more on Nordstrom’s website, including the basic UGG Euphoria Throw Blanket. It comes in five neutral colors, with faux fur on one side and soft velvet on the other. According to the product description, you can also wash this one on gentle cycle.

$125 at Nordstrom

Target’s faux fur blanket may be the least expensive option on this list but don’t discount its quality. The blanket is thick and soft on both sides. And it’s also machine washable! Get it in four neutral colors (including light pink) to cozy up your space.

$25 at Target

If you’re looking for an extremely warm blanket for winter, amp things up with this heated faux fur one from Beautyrest. The blanket comes in eight colors and patterns, each with three heat settings and a digital controller. It has an auto-shut-off after two hours if you forget to turn it off, though. Plug it in with the six-foot power chord and turn it on for those extra chilly nights on the sofa.

$79 at Pottery Barn

West Elm’s Faux Fur Chinchilla Throw blanket is super plush and woven with long, silky fibers. However, besides its softness, people love the oversized version, which measures 60 inches by 80 inches. That’s big enough to fit across a king-size bed if you want to curl up in it all night long. Get it in four pretty colors.

$89 at West Elm
