Whether you legitimately enjoy cleaning or you dread picking up a mop or broom, we can all agree on one thing: We love a clean home.

No matter how you feel about cleaning, it has to get done — so why not employ the top tools in the business to help you clear the dust bunnies from under your bed with ease? Or even clear the air — literally — with the air purifier that professional cleaners recommend?

We enlisted the help of Carolyn Forte, the director of the Home Appliances & Cleaning Products Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute, to share her favorite essentials to get your space the cleanest it's ever been.

“During these unprecedented times, keeping a clean home can have a huge impact on your health and wellbeing,” the consumer products expert shares.

Keep scrolling for the top-notch products she recommends.

The Best Upright Vacuum: Kenmore Elite 31150 Pet Friendly Bagged Upright Beltless Vacuum

Forte considers this vacuum the best of the best among upright vacs.

“It has great tools, it has great suction, and it’s certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation,” she shares.

Thanks to the HEPA filter that picks up ultra-fine microscopic particles, you never have to worry about it accidentally leaving trapped dirt behind.

Best Handheld Vacuum: Hoover ONEPWR Cordless Hand Held Vacuum Cleaner

Forte loves that Hoover’s battery can be used in a variety of different appliances, including other vacs from the line.

As for the handheld vac?

“It’s really versatile,” she shares. “You can go anywhere with it, you can take it out to clean the car if you want to with no need to be tied to an outlet.”

It’s also compact enough to be placed in a closet without taking up too much room.

Best Robot Mop: iRobot Braava Jet m6 (6110) Ultimate Robot Mop

Robot mops might be a new category for Forte, but it’s certainly an advanced one: the iRobot Braava comes with plenty of bells and whistles.

“It not only wet mops, but it dry mops, too,” she shares. “It can be used on all types of hard flooring.”

Tile, vinyl, hardwood — all are no match for the iRobot Braava. However, Forte’s favorite part is how intelligent the gizmo is.

“The really cool part is when the battery runs down, it goes back to its charging dock, recharges itself and comes back and picks up where it left off.”

The Best Mop: BISSELL PowerFresh Steam Mop

If you’re looking for something more traditional — and significantly less expensive — the Bissell mop is a great choice.

“It comes with a microfiber head, so you can just take that off and wash it so it’s reusable,” Forte explains.

However, her favorite thing about the mop is the adjustable steam: You can go heavy-duty for durable floors and tough messes, or a lighter steam for more delicate floors.

Best Air Purifier: Blueair Blue Pure 211+ Air Purifier

Clean air in your home is more important than ever, and Forte trusts the Blueair to do the job.

“It’s got multi-layer filters, an outer filter that’s easy to clean and the inner filter has carbon in it,” Forte explains.

It helps remove pollen, dust, smoke, and even odors from the air as well. And it’s pretty cute to boot.

The Best Garment Steamer: Conair Turbo Extreme Steam Hand Held Fabric Steamer

If you can’t stand ironing, consider a garment steamer. It's a one-stop-shop for wrinkle-free bliss.

“They don’t spit, they don’t sputter, they don’t leave water spots on your clothes,” Forte explains.

Use this Conair steamer all around the house: on your comforter, your bedskirt, even your curtains!
