The Best Christmas Movies to Watch According to Your Zodiac Sign

Bring on the yuletide cheer with a film chosen by the stars.

The holidays are just around the corner, which means it’s time to sip on peppermint hot cocoa, snuggle up in your favorite plush blanket, and watch your favorite Christmas movies. Take a break from gift shopping and planning your perfect holiday party attire to treat yourself to a holiday-movie marathon — because you deserve some holiday cheer.

While films such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and A Charlie Brown Christmas are some of the more popular picks during the holiday season, there are plenty of other seasonally appropriate selections that demand your attention. From classic Christmas films to cheesy — but adorable — love stories, we’ve matched all the best holiday movies to their zodiac equivalents. Trust the stars this season and make your zodiac-chosen film the next in your queue.

Sagittarius — The Santa Clause

Just like Santa, those with Sagittarius as a sign are cheerful with open hearts. Their generosity and kindness, of course, can sometimes be eclipsed by their impatience and carelessness, which makes The Santa Clause the ultimate Sagittarius holiday film. In this ‘90s flick, a man named Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) accidentally kills Santa and is transported to the North Pole, where he discovers he will become the new Santa. With elves and reindeer there to help him along his way, the careless dad learns to accept his new fate and embrace the holiday cheer.

Capricorn — Home Alone

Just like Kevin in Home Alone, Capricorns are practical, balanced, and cautious enough to fend for themselves if they’re ever accidentally abandoned. In Home Alone, 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) is left behind when his family leaves for Christmas vacation. In their absence, Kevin is forced to keep himself alive and protect his gigantic home from two pesky burglars. Like Capricorns, the youngster uses his quick wits and ingenuity to fend off the home intruders until he can be reunited with his family.

Aquarius — Nightmare Before Christmas

Aquarians deserve a holiday film just as inventive and unpredictable as they are. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a perfect blend of creative genius, when the Pumpkin King (aka Jack Skellington) grows tired of Halloween Town and tries to bring Christmas to the ghoulish world. Part Halloween movie, part Christmas movie, there’s a lot to love about this festive Disney film.

Pisces — A Christmas Prince

A Christmas Prince was made for the hopeless romantics among us. Sensitive Pisceans will revel in the warm-hearted love story between an undercover reporter named Amber (Rose McIver) and a bachelor prince (Ben Lamb) in this Netflix original. Escape into the whirlwind romance and be mesmerized by the excitement that surrounds the unlikely pair.

Aries — A Christmas Story

With a ruling planet like Mars, Aries require a Christmas movie that's filled with excitement and maybe a little danger, which means the ‘80s classic A Christmas Story fits the bill. Someone with this zodiac sign will surely enjoy watching the antics that a rebellious young boy named Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley) gets himself into. And with a couple of iconic gifts, such a hideous pink bunny costume and a leg lamp displayed in the window for Christmas, there’s no lack of holiday humor in this film.

Taurus — The Polar Express

Down-to-earth Taurus signs deserve a holiday film that’s as wholehearted as they are. Enter The Polar Express. A children’s book turned animated film, this Tom Hanks movie follows a young boy on his way to the North Pole. The Christmas train adventure leads him on a magical journey of self-discovery that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Gemini — The Princess Switch

A bit on the nose here, but the Gemini sign deserves a twincentric holiday movie like Netflix’s The Princess Switch. In this holiday-focused film, two women who look exactly alike (one a baker, one a duchess, both played by Vanessa Hudgens) decide to swap places with each other just before Christmas. While switching lives was always the plan, each falling in love with the one's beau was definitely not in the plan. The Princess Switch is one of those cheesy romance movies you absolutely can’t resist.

Cancer — Love Actually

Nurturing Cancers should snuggle up with their loved ones to watch the romantic holiday film Love Actually. Following the lives of nine different couples, Love Actually will have you laughing and crying throughout its two-and-a-half-half-hour run time. The star-packed movie (Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, and Liam Neeson to just name a few) is a classic that will leave you wanting to fall in love while simultaneously spreading Christmas joy to those around you.

Leo — Elf

There has arguably never been a more Leo movie than the 2003 film Elf. Starring Will Ferrell, Buddy the elf is a human raised by elves who has come to New York City to find his birth father. The big-hearted elf is quirky and cheerful, leaving nothing but candy and Christmas cheer in his wake. Leos should enjoy this movie with a bowl of chocolate-covered spaghetti (which is apparently now being served at a Chicago restaurant) or a bag of their favorite Pop-Tarts.

Virgo — It’s a Wonderful Life

Analytical Virgos always seem to be learning life lessons and striving for perfection, which is why their holiday film is a 1946 classic. It’s a Wonderful Life starts off a bit dark with a man ruminating on his various life problems during Christmas. Thankfully, angels help him to see how his good deeds and contributions to the people around him have helped shape the present and the future.

Libra — The Holiday

Fun and flirty, there’s only one holiday movie that screams “Libra,” and it’s the best of them all. Featuring Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, and Kate Winslet, The Holiday is packed with adventure, romance, and, of course, yuletide cheer. When Diaz's and Winslet’s characters house-swap during the holidays, neither woman is prepared for the journey and romance that’s headed her way.

Scorpio — How the Grinch Stole Christmas

A Scorpio holiday is not complete without an annual viewing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Featuring Jim Carrey, this Christmas masterpiece transforms the literary world of Dr. Seuss into a live-action film. The story follows the Grinch as he sets off to destroy Christmas for the town of Whoville. Scorpios will revel in the holiday shenanigans that take place throughout the film. And if you love this movie, you’ll want to check out the 2018 adaptation, The Grinch, now playing in theaters.
