All the Best Celebrity Halloween Costumes of 2019

Thanks to their access to the best stylists and makeup artists, many celebrities’ Halloween costumes look like something off of a movie set, putting store-bought getups — you know, the ones that come in plastic pouches and are supposed to somehow fit everyone — to shame. But even though you may not have the option of hiring a tailor or sitting in a makeup chair for hours on end like Heidi Klum does nearly every year, you don't have to throw in the towel. Let their clever costume ideas inspire you to up your Halloween game and get innovative with your look.

As you can see below from this year's cream-of-the-crop celebrity Halloween ensembles, stars made even the simplest costumes seem polished to perfection, like Bretman Rock's adorable interpretation of Violet Beauregarde. And just like us non-famous folks who often dress up as stars, famous folks do that too — just look at Jessica Biel, Halsey, and Kourtney Kardashian, who all chose fellow celebrities as their costume muses.

Get inspiration for your next costume below. The sooner you start practicing, the more it'll look like you, too, have a pro glam squad to get you ready for Halloween.

Bella Hadid warmed up the Stone Age as sexy Fred Flintstone, three words that only she could make us put in one sentence.

Monica’s Shrek-inspired Princess Fiona costume is picture perfect, from her tiara to her pointed ears.

La La Anthony turned to Malificient for more recent Disney inspiration.

Lizzo as a boxed DNA test is perfect already, but just wait until the chorus hits for an even better surprise.

Kourtney Karsashian dressed up as a cowgirl for Halloween, and the blonde wig and stuffed bra lead us to believe it’s queen cowgirl Ms. Dolly Parton.

Mariah Carey and her glam squad dressed as the ‘80s hair band Spit, which means there’s a whole lot of hair going on in this photo.

Khloé Kardashian channeled her dark side as Cruella de Vil — and naturally, she accessorized with 101 stuffed dalmatians and a matching dalmatian-print manicure.

Model Winnie Harlow has always wanted to recreate a Marilyn Monroe look, and this Halloween she absolutely nailed it. Add her to the list of celebrities who elevate platinum hair to an art form.

Gigi Hadid took inspiration from another classic Hollywood figure: Jim Carrey's The Mask. We just hope she took all that face paint off before bed.

Thanks to a whole lot of body paint and thigh-high boots, Bretman Rock recreated a classic Spongebob Squarepants meme, poses and all. The capper is his little lister Cleo as a perfectly square Spongebob.

For days, Ariana Grande dropped hints suggesting her Halloween costume might be inspired by the legendary Twilight Zone episode, "Eye of the Beholder," and she finally confirmed that, yes, she fully leaned into the disturbing makeup intended to make us question what we perceive as ugly or beautiful. Either way, the end result is incredible.

Kylie Jenner's uncanny resemblance to Marilyn Monroe in this photo is technically not a Halloween costume; it's from her cover shoot for the new issue of V magazine. But she understandably shared it on October 31, considering it's an absolutely breathtaking re-creation of the "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" look from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

In addition to her Marilyn Monroe masterpiece, Jenner also did a Disney-inspired costume that went over quite swimmingly. "Ariel grew up," she wrote in the caption of the photo she posted — and yes, this is undoubtedly a more mature version of The Little Mermaid than we remember.

Hot Girl Summer has given way to Hot Girl Halloween, apparently — at least that's what Megan Thee Stallion's costume with Jordyn Woods suggests. The two dressed up in Mortal Kombat–inspired outfits, complete with face masks and weapons from the video-game franchise.

We can't blame you if you do a double taken when you see Normani's Halloween costume. She perfectly recreated an iconic Naomi Campbell photoshoot from 1991, nailing every pose, every accessory, and even every curl.

It's almost scary how much Ciara and husband Russell Wilson resemble Beyoncé and Jay-Z in this iconic Halloween snap. The couple nailed everything: 'fit, hairstyles, and even the facial expressions. It's a celeb costume that won't soon be forgotten, that's for sure.

Pose actress Hailie Sahar couldn't look any more like Aaliyah in her all-leather ensemble, shimmery shadow, and sultry cat eyeliner. To say that she achieved the legendary singer's aesthetic would be an understatement.

Supermodel Karlie Kloss is completely unrecognizable as a 3-D "Halloween doll," a tutorial for which she uploaded on her YouTube channel, should you need a last-minute (and fairly low-maintenance) costume before the big day.

Kylie Jenner and her longtime best friend Anastasia "Stas" Karanikolaou dressed up as matching Playboy bunnies — bodysuits, ears, and all. The makeup mogul even went so far as to wear green contacts, which added a sultry, subtle, mysterious vibe to the costume.

No one was ready for this epic #TBT costume from Gabrielle Union, which was made even more iconic due to the matching moment with her 11-month-old daughter, Kaavia James.

Halsey channeled Cher this year with sleek straight hair, sparkle-studded liner, and bright blue eye shadow you could see from the heavens. Even better? Her new beau Evan Peters went as Sonny alongside her.

Perhaps one of the greatest celebrity couples costumes of all time, Jessica Biel dressed up as husband Justin Timberlake from his *NSYNC era, while Timberlake showed support as a giant microphone.

Kourtney Kardashian was one of the first celebrities to share a glimpse at a costume, this one being a spot-on imitation of Ariana Grande, complete with rings at the base of her high ponytail.

You can get one of those inflatable suits at any Halloween superstore, but Bretman Rock elevated it by turning into a super-chic version of Violet Beauregarde from Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Halsey was a wee toddler when Marilyn Manson was wearing this look, but that didn't stop her from creating one of the most frighteningly accurate interpretations of it we've ever seen.

How Rickey Thompson hasn't gone as The Fifth Element's Ruby Rhod for Halloween before now is mind-boggling. This is perfection.

Elizabeth Hurley also took inspiration from a cult-classic movie this year, dressing as Kill Bill's Bride/Beatrix Kiddo character and simultaneously proving that she can definitely pull off blonde hair.

One-year-old Stormi Webster, dressed in mini version of her mom Kylie Jenner's 2019 Met Gala gown, has no idea what's happening, but she still managed to have one of the best celebrity costumes of the year.

Jessica Rabbit is a quintessential hot girl Halloween costume, and Ashley Graham nailed it to perfection with a curve-and-baby-bump-hugging latex dress.
