One of the most exciting things about the beauty industry is that there is constant newness. There’s always a new brand to watch, or a new must-have product. And, increasingly so, a new influencer who is making waves in the industry for all the right reasons, launching products that aren’t just packed up in pretty casing to suit bloggers and millennials, but are genuine bathroom- cabinet and make-up- bag additions.

Take the Dubai-based brand founder Huda Kattan, for example. She has an enormous Instagram following of 231 million, and creates foundations, eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks that are so lovely they warrant a #nofilter. Although her core following seems to be mainly under-30s, the products in the range are great for any age. Her latest launch is the Warm Browns Obsessions Palette, £25, a collection of nine subtle, wearable eyeshadows with real lasting power.

I also love the stacking pots of make-up developed by Trinny Woodall, for her new beauty brand Trinny London. With an Instagram following of 327,000, her fun mix of fashion and beauty advice certainly attracts an audience. I really like the Lip Glow lipstick shade in Lyla (named after Trinny’s daughter). It’s a light, balmy coral that instantly brightens the face. The idea behind the brand is that you pick a few shades for your eyes, cheeks and lips, and build the interlocking round pots into a ‘stack’ – so you have everything you need on the go.

And for a proper cleanse, especially after all the Christmas and New Year’s parties, look no further than the Double Cleanse pot created by Pixi in partnership with the skincare blogger Caroline Hirons. There’s a solid oil on one side to remove even the most stubborn make-up, to be followed by a rich cream cleanser on the other side to clean away every last scrap of dirt. This will keep your skin looking in tip-top condition come the new year.
