Plant Sale" hosted by the Garden Club of Reading, Reading Public Museum's Stone Terrace Tent, 500 Museum Road, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be a diverse selection of annuals, perennials and native plants, hanging baskets, house plants, orchids, succulent planters, some in vintage containers, Hyper tufa planters, gift baskets, garden tools, gardening books, planters and pots, vases, seed packets, with a bake sale and a kid's planting corner.

—A "sense" of history, Conrad Weiser Homestead, 28 Weiser Lane, Heidelberg Township, noon-4 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in history. Come hear, see, touch, smell and taste the 18th century. For all ages. After the tour, visitors can browse the site's bookstore in the visitor center in the 1834 Scheetz House next to the Weiser house. Donations are appreciated.

May 2:

—Hamburg Area Historical Society presents Ben Varner with a Civil War program, "Walking in Their Shoes- The Story of the 48th Pennsylvania Infantry." Hamburg Area High School LGI Room, 7 p.m.

May 4:

—The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen, chapter of The Pennsylvania Guild, presents its fourth annual juried fine art and craft festival at Renninger's Farmers' Market under the Pavilion, 740 Noble St., Kutztown, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Over 40 traditional and contemporary artists and craftsmen will be there with their newest creations. Paintings, weaving, jewelry, glass, wood, photography, leather, baskets, pottery, gourd art, metal art, rugs, fraktur and more. Free admission.

—Spring wildflower walk, Dreibelbis Historic Farm, 356 Hard Hill Road, Richmond Township, 1:30 p.m. Naturalist Dr. Susan Munch will lead a walk through meadows and wetlands. Wear sturdy shoes. Free parking and admission. Donations appreciated.

—History of Quilts Through the Years, Berks County Heritage Center, 1102 Red Bridge Road, Bern Township, 2 p.m. Cyndi Hershey, quilt education and development director for the Kutztown Folk Festival, will present a program that will highlight the festival's world famous Quilt Barn. Free.

—Children's Day, Daniel Boone Homestead, 400 Daniel Boone Road, Exeter Township, noon-4 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to learn more about Daniel Boone's childhood and participate in various 18th century, hands-on activities such as textile processing, candle dipping, quill pen writing and butter making. Admission: adults $10, seniors (65+) $8, youth (6-17) $5. Children 5 and under and DBHA members are free. No pets (except service animals) and no smoking.

—Traditional German Maifest worship service, Renewed Spirit Church, 449 N. Ninth St., 11 a.m. Worship will be led by the Rev. Sonja Ware and will feature the Reading Liederkranz Singers under the direction of Mark Herr. Parking is available on the adjacent church lot; overflow parking also available nearby. The church is handicapped accessible through the side door from the parking lot. Radio station WEEU-830 AM will broadcast the service live, a tradition that dates from 1927.

—Kauffman's chicken BBQ sale by Friends of Mifflin Community Library, sale location is in the Walgreen's parking lot at the corner of Lancaster Ave. and Museum Road, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. or until sold out. Cost is $12 for 1/2 chicken, baked potato, applesauce. Presale tickets may be purchased at the library, 6 Philadelphia Ave., Shillington, until May 1.

—Leesport Area Historical Society open house, 128 Main St., Leesport, 1-4 p.m. Tour of the 1858 schoolhouse, which served the community until 1961. Visit a classroom circa 1940s-'50s and view area/regional artifacts including a 1740s Quaker marriage certificate as well as Leesport Area High School 20th anniversary memorabilia.

May 6:

—Berks Photographic Society meeting, GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, 201 Washington St., Suite 326 and streamed online, 7 p.m. Berks Photographic member Jeff Schaeffer shares "Travel Photography — Capturing the Experience!" Schaeffer enjoys traveling to new places and enjoys capturing the experience to share with others. He is enthusiastic about traveling to foreign places but also enjoys traveling in the USA and exploring places near to home. —Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue open house, 60 Vera Cruz Road, East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, 10 a.m.-noon. Meet and greet the golden retrievers and dogs that are available for adoption. Staff is on hand to answer all questions, and food is also available for purchase. No admission charge. —The Lebanon Valley Railroad and Heritage Park, Berks County Heritage Center, 1102 Red Bridge Road, Bern Township, 2 p.m. This slide presentation by Paul Miller, president of the Sinking Spring Area Historical Society, will take the audience on a historical ride beginning at Reading's Outer Station, traveling along the Lebanon Valley line of the P&R RR, also into Lancaster County on the Reading & Columbia RR. A stop will be made at Heritage Park in Sinking Spring concerning the history of its railroad buildings and their relocation and restoration. Free.

—Paws on the Path Dog Walk, Daniel Boone Homestead, 400 Daniel Boone Road, Exeter Township, 9 a.m. Explore the Homestead with your furry friend. There is no fee. All dogs must be on a leash and well-behaved around other dogs. Walkers without dogs are welcome.
