Benjamin Moore's Color of the Year 2023 Is Here—And It's a Showstopper

This bold, vivacious color exudes main character energy.

Last year, rather than let one bold color steal the show, Benjamin Moore selected a soft shade of sage (October Mist) as its color of the year, and this "new neutral" served as the starting point for a supporting palette of 14 hues. But this year, the Benjamin Moore Color of the Year 2023 exudes main character energy—and there's nothing neutral about it. Introducing, Raspberry Blush 2008-30, a confident and charismatic shade of red-orange. This vibrant coral color energizes a room and commands attention.

In the process of choosing the 2023 Color of the Year, even the color experts had to push themselves out of their comfort zone, says Andrea Magno, color marketing and development director at Benjamin Moore. After originally selecting a softer palette that she says "didn't really make a statement and take a stand," they decided to go bolder. "It's about choosing one color and really making that the hero. A lot of times, particularly with neutrals, the walls become the backdrop and it's the other elements that take center stage. Here, we're kind of changing the conversation, and we're saying 'the walls are going to be the star,'" she explains.

As maximalist style becomes more popular and color confidence grows, the Benjamin Moore team believes that people are finally ready to take a break from the neutrals and bring color into their homes. An Energizing Living Room

Everyone has different aims for how they'd like their home to feel—and the paint colors you brush on the walls should reflect that. If you view your living room as a lively spot to put on good music and gather with friends and family, Raspberry Blush will invoke that joie de vivre. As a nod to Raspberry Blush's bon vivant persona, Benjamin Moore worked with electro-funk duo Chromeo to debut a new song, aptly name "Raspberry Blush," in celebration of the 2023 Color of the Year launch. The brand also curated eight Spotify playlists that embody the spirit of each color in the 2023 Color Trends palette (below). Our recommendation: Grab a paintbrush, put on a playlist, and you're ready for a painting party.

A Joyful Dining Room

Because Raspberry Blush is so invigorating, it's best suited for the social spaces in your home—especially the dining room. Interior designers frequently recommend blush tones in a dining room because the rosy glow is warm and flattering.

Beautiful Architectural Interest

Go ahead and highlight areas with architectural interest, such as board and batten wainscoting, by painting them Raspberry Blush. The Benjamin Moore team favored a monochromatic look for the 2023 Color of the Year, painting the entire wall and trim in the standout hue.

Benjamin Moore Color Trends 2023

Raspberry Blush may be the main character, but the Benjamin Moore team provides an all-star supporting cast with the Color Trends 2023, a complex palette of eight colors. "They're approachable colors, but they have a strong presence about them," Magno says. For those who gravitate toward Raspberry Blush's warmth but prefer a more subtle shade, consider Conch Shell. And for those who want a room that wows but favor the opposite side of the color wheel? Starry Night Blue has you covered. As you may have already noticed in fashion, brown is making a comeback, and the color trends palette offers two options: Cinnamon, a spiced reddish brown, and Wenge, a deep chocolate color. No matter which hue calls your name, go ahead and paint the entire wall so these colors can get all the attention.
