Benjamin Benmoyal RTW Spring 2023

The buyers have spoken — and with a nod to their requests, Benjamin Benmoyal pushed his upcycled wardrobe in new directions, injecting vivid colors and skin-baring looks into his lineup for spring.

Alongside his boxy caftans and shirts — trading strongly with Middle Eastern consumers and punctuated with fun details like multicolored buttons or worked in a lemon print — his bright floral jacquards were among the standouts.

Inspired by the works of Monet and woven with deadstock thread from LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, these included a boxy biker jacket, a trenchcoat with eye-catching cuff strapping details and a mini wrap skirt with outsized buttons.

Weaving his own way — and fabrics — is second nature for Benmoyal, who started out crafting his textiles from old cassette tapes. It also opens up new possibilities for the label as volumes increase, meaning the designer needs to find new means to stick to his guns when it comes to prioritizing repurposed materials.

Wide pants — in chunky pale blue denim or Benmoyal’s more familiar checks — were twinned with cute matching bra tops, giving the collection a streetwise appeal and a younger edge.
