Ben Stiller & Christine Taylor’s Teen Joined Them on the Red Carpet & He’s So Grown Up

Last night, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor co-hosted a gala that marked the 25th anniversary of Project ALS, which raises money to fund scientific research focused on finding a cure for ALS (AKA Lou Gehrig’s disease).

The nonprofit was founded by Stiller and Taylor’s close friend, Jennifer Estess, who tragically died of the disease at age 40. Understandably, the cause is near and dear to the couple’s heart, and so it’s no surprise they brought loved ones to the event.

Including their 18-year-old son Quinlin.

It was an unexpected appearance by the teen who is rarely seen on his parents’ Instagrams, much less red carpets. And wow! He looked so grown up and happy in a perfectly tailored suit and a smile that matched his mama’s. It was in stark contrast to an appearance in 2016 (see below) where the tween’s pants were way too long, his tie was loosened, and he looked (adorably!) annoyed.

Stiller and Taylor also share a 21-year-old daughter, Ella, and they told PEOPLE on the red carpet that they all like to spend time together.

“We just like to hang out,” Stiller said. “We really do enjoy hanging out as a family. Watching movies, playing silly tennis.”

“We also play a lot of the game Celebrity,” Taylor said. “It’s really a fun one. You don’t need a board, you just need some paper and you write down names … We all get a little edgy for sure, but it’s really fun.”

“The joke is it’s called Celebrity but nine times out of ten, there’s someone in there that’s just a family member!” the actress continued.

“Or the dogs!” Stiller added.

The two also admitted to the media outlet that yes, they do run their “material” by their kids. Taylor said they’re both “tough critics” but “in a good way,” and her husband agreed.

“In a good way,” the Night at the Museum star said. “Tough critic in a good way because he is very discerning. So it’s fun to watch movies and see what he likes and what he doesn’t like. Ella, our daughter, is a drama student and actor — so they know what they like and what they think is good.”

Ella more commonly walks the carpet with her parent(s) including at the Tribeca Film Festival in June. In 2019, when Stiller and Taylor were separated, Ella joined her dad at the Golden Globes.

Stiller went into total Proud Dad Mode in a 20116 interview with Parade, gushing about his two kiddos.

“My daughter’s smart, focused,” he said. “She doesn’t take any crap. She’s got a little bit of my mom in her. When we moved back to New York she discovered musical theater and she loves it.”

“My son is the sweetest, most innocent, giving kid,” he continued. “I love how open-minded he is.”

How sweet is that? Now we want to see the “smart, focused” and the “sweet, innocent” kids join their parents on a carpet soon!
