Ben & Jerry’s Is Releasing Two Flavors of Holiday Cookie Dough Chunks

It’s August. Christmas is probably the furthest thing from your mind right now. You also might not want to think about the holidays too much anyway, given what’s probably in store for America pandemic-wise later in this historically crappy year.

But if you for whatever reason are looking for ways to pass those two weeks in December where you’re locked at home before going to see your family, you might want to know that Ben & Jerry’s plans to release two limited-edition seasonal cookie dough batches that sound perfect for the upcoming hibernation season.

Specifically, those two Vermont ice cream mavens are set to drop Gingerbread Cookie Dough Chunks and Cinnamon Bun Cookie Dough chunks, two perfect additions to your holiday baking arsenal—and if there was ever a year to do a lot of holiday baking, it’s 2020. If you don’t feel up to using the oven, don’t worry though: Thanks to pasteurized eggs and heat-treated flour, these chunks of cookie dough are fully safe to eat as is.

From how each is described in a press release, it sounds like there’s enough holiday cheer in here to brighten up even the gloomiest spirits.

"The Gingerbread Cookie Dough Chunks are like building a holiday house in your mouth—the sweetness and spices are just like you remember as a kid,” Ben & Jerry’s Innovation Manager Jody Eley said. “The Cinnamon Bun Dough Chunks will get you in the mood for special weekend brunches, and they're vegan!"

While obviously Ben & Jerry’s is known for their ice cream, the introduction of these two holiday offerings actually expands their lineup of cookie dough chunks to seven flavors. Other options include both vegan and standard-issue chocolate chip cookie dough, chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter CCCD, and Half Baked. It turns out you don’t have to dig through those Ben & Jerry pints to get those sweet, unbaked cookie morsels you crave.

You’ll find these holiday morsels of delight at supermarkets and Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops, probably around the time the rest of the Christmas stuff goes on sale, which seems to happen earlier every year. But if there’s anything holiday-themed that deserves to be made available ASAP, it’s probably these.
