Ben Affleck's Brother Casey Affleck Isn't Attending Wedding Weekend Due to 'Parental Obligations'

The younger Affleck reportedly had family obligations that he couldn’t miss.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s wedding weekend was missing a key member of the groom’s family–Casey Affleck.
The 47-year-old actor was in Los Angeles, California with his 24-year-old girlfriend, Caylee Cowan, while his older brother celebrated his recent nuptials to Lopez in Georgia.
A source told PEOPLE that the reason Casey did not attend his older brother’s wedding ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 20, was “unfortunately because of family, parental obligations at home.”
Casey has two children with ex-wife Summer Phoenix; sons named Indiana (18) and Atticus (14).
The publication also reported that the Manchester By The Sea actor was spotted out and about with Cowan on Saturday in Los Angeles.
Casey's only other reference to his absence from the celebrations was in a short comment to the paparazzi on the morning of the wedding during a Starbucks run.
TMZ published a video taken by a photographer who asked Casey why he isn’t in Georgia. While it’s hard to make out exactly what Casey, it sounded like something along the lines of “fell asleep.”
While Casey hung out in Los Angeles, the wedding event in Georgia went off without a hitch. Notable guests included Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, as well as actor and filmmaker Kevin Smith and his wife Jennifer.
Ben and J.Lo wed back in July in a small ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada that was only attended by the couple's children. As for this weekend, a source told PEOPLE that the newlyweds “have an extraordinary weekend of celebrations planned,” with “a pre-wedding party, a ceremony and...lots of fun lined up.”
A source previously told ET, "Ben and Jen are so excited to have their wedding celebration this weekend in Georgia. It's a special place for them as a couple and they can't wait to celebrate their love in front of their friends and family. Their loved ones are so happy for them and everyone is looking forward to getting together and celebrating."
Ben and Lopez were previously engaged in late 2002, but they later called off the wedding and broke up in Jan. 2004.
Both went on to marry different people–Ben with Jennifer Garner, and Lopez with Marc Anthony.
The couple got back together in 2021, and announced their engagement soon after–this time we're happy to report Bennifer made it to the altar!
