Last year, it was announced that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were going to co-star in Air — a new film that outlines the industry gamble that Nike took to sign Michael Jordan to the brand — and the first official trailer has finally been unveiled.

In the forthcoming Nike drama, Affleck serves as the director and plays the role of Nike's co-founder Phil Knight. Damon is tapped to act as Sonny Vaccaro — the Swoosh marketing executive who eventually persuaded Jordan to ink a deal with the brand. Other important cast members to note include Viola Davis as Deloris Jordan, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Marlon Wayans as George Raveling, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Julius Tennon as James Jordan and Gustaf Skarsgård as Horst Dassler.

Scenes from the Affleck-directed film shown in the trailer above include snippets of Knight's doubt over signing a rookie to the brand, Vaccaro's relentlessness in trying to convince his company and MJ's parents that the deal was going to be worth their while, the first Air Jordan 1 High "Chicago" colorway and more.

Look for Air to premiere in theaters worldwide on April 5, 2023 prior to its debut on Amazon’s Prime Video.
