'Below Deck' Will Be Back Sooner Than You Think

From Men's Health

Bravo has no shortage of great reality tv shows to diss, but Below Deck has risen to the top of the network's programming with its unique blend of enviable getaways, intriguing cast, and of course, a never-ending well of explosive drama. And while the Below Deck stable now includes Below Deck Mediterranean and Below Deck: Sailing Yacht, the original series still remains a fan favorite.

As the current series from the franchise, Below Deck Med, starts winding down on its fifth season, it’s leaving fans wanting more motor yachts, more guests, and more antics from the crew members aboard the sailing vessel. But given the unprecedented times, a major question remains: Is another season of any installation from the franchise in the works?

Do not fear—we not only have answers about what’s going on with our favorite maritime TV show, and it turns out another season is coming sooner than expected.

When is the new season of Below Deck coming back?

Good news, Below Deck fans—Bravo announced in September 2020 that season eight will officially premiere on November 2nd, and this time, the show is going back to where the audience's love for luxury yachting all began. For the first time in three seasons, the show filmed in the Caribbean, and fans of the series will be excited to see Eddie Lucas return as bosun after being off the series for five years.

Joining Eddie is a whole new crew of yachties to help run the motor yacht: Francesca Rubi (chief stew), Elizabeth Frankini (stew), Isabelle “Izzy” Wouters (stew), Rachel Hargrove (chef), James Hough (deckhand), and Shane Coopersmith (deckhand).

There is one undercurrent going through the winds of the Caribbean during this season, and it’s the coronavirus pandemic. While the show did film prior to the outbreak back in March, it’s questionable whether there will be enough episodes to fill an entire season. One site reported that season eight did get cut short, but not to worry, as there is enough footage to get an entire season out of it.

And, as it turns out, Bravo has been hinting at the return of Eddie to the series right under our noses, but no one knew at the time. Back in March, Bravo’s Vice President of Current Production Pamela Gimenez teased his reappearance, stating, "What I'm most excited about the new season of Below Deck, there's going to be a familiar face and a fan favorite," Gimenez said.
