Bellingham events this month: Block party, wine walks, street fair, trivia and more on tap

May is here, and The Bellingham Herald has put together a guide of fun, local events for you to enjoy this month.

The following is a monthly roundup of key Bellingham events, festivals, trivia nights and live music this month. For a complete list of local events, visit bellinghamherald.com/events.

Bellingham events

Wander Brewing is celebrating its 10th anniversary from May 3-5. On Friday, May 3, the brewery will release a special beer can and glass. On May 4 the brewery will host a block party with food trucks, beer slushies, ice cream, bounce houses, face painting, live music, ice cream, balloon animals and live screen printing. On May 5, the brewery will have beer specials and a BBQ. Wander Brewing is open from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday at 1807 Dean Ave. in Bellingham.

The Bellingham Farmers Market is back on its regular weekly schedule with 100 vendors selling produce, flowers, handmade products and more. The market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday at The Depot at 1100 Railroad Ave.

The Bellingham Dockside Market will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4 and 18 at 722 Coho Way. This market allows fishermen to sell their freshly caught fish directly from their boats. For the latest information on each week’s vendors, visit the market’s Facebook page.

The Bellingham Yacht Club Boat Parade will start at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4. The parade is free for viewers, and the best viewing spots will be at Boulevard Park at 470 Bayview Dr. and the ferry terminal at 355 Harris Ave.

The 10th Annual Spring Wine Walk is back from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 10 in downtown Bellingham. Participants will receive tasting tickets which they can redeem at 19 downtown businesses, while shopping from local stores and restaurants. Tickets are available online and cost $45 for general admission which includes 10 tasting tickets, a tote bag and glass for tastings. VIP tickets cost $65 an include an additional early check-in party with a complimentary glass of wine and three additional tasting tickets.

Open roller skate is back at The Depot from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 10. Those wishing to participate in the free skating must bring their own skates. Helmets and pads are also recommended. The Depot is at 1100 Railroad Ave.

The Barkley Village Wine Walk runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16 and takes participants to 13 shops for wine tastings. Tickets cost $40 and include eight tasting tickets, a wine glass and a goodie bag. Tickets are available online in advance.

The Schooner Zodiac’s 100th Birthday Open House & Deck Tours will allow visitors to look inside a historic ship from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19. The free event includes deck tours, historic displays and the captains of the ship, Tim and Calen Mehrer. The open hour and tours will be at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal’s upstairs rotunda room at 355 Harris Ave. in Bellingham.

Fairhaven Festival 2024, a street fair with live music, food, drinks and an artisan market, will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 26. The festival is at the Historic Fairhaven Village at 1106 Harris Ave. in Bellingham.

Live music in Bellingham

Stone’s Throw Brewery has free live music for all ages from 6 to 8 p.m. throughout May. For the lineup of artists, check the brewery’s website or Facebook page. Stone’s Throw Brewery is at 1009 Larrabee Ave.

The Aslan Brewing Co. Depot welcomes local artists throughout May. For the music lineup, check the schedule online. Aslan Brewing Co. Depot is at 1322 N. State St.

Kulshan Brewing Company’s various breweries are hosting live music throughout May. For the music lineup and locations, check the schedule online.

The Blue Room, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live performers and performances, including jazz nights, local artists, and improv nights. Tickets are available online in advance. The Blue Room is at 202 E. Holly St.

The Shakedown, a live music venue and bar, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. The Shakedown is at 1212 N State St.

Wild Buffalo House of Music, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. Wild Buffalo House of Music is at 208 W. Holly St.
