  • Bella Thorne apologizes after facing backlash after her OnlyFans controversy.

  • Bella is being accused of scamming users into paying for content on the subscription site that turned out to be pretty tame.

Bella Thorne is apologizing to fans who feel betrayed after her OnlyFans controversy. Earlier this month, she announced her debut on the content subscription site that's popular within the adult entertainment industry. She explained that she wanted to "fully control" her image without censorship, judgement, and bullying. But, fans became upset after feeling like Bella mislead them into purchasing content.

Apparently, users thought they they were buying X-rated content, only to realize they were buying PG-13 content. No one is ever entitled to another person's body—in real life or through a digital site. But, the issue is that OnlyFans put a cap on how much content creators can make after Bella made $1 million in a day and $2 million within a week.

"I am a mainstream face and when you have a voice, a platform, you try to use you in helping others and advocate for something bigger than yourself," she wrote in a Twitter thread. "Again in this process I hurt you and for that I’m truly sorry."

She continued, "Ps. I’m meeting with only fans about the new restrictions to find out why!!! This is f*cked up and I’m sorry comment any ideas or concerns you want brought up to OF!! and send me your links and a pic so I can promote you guys."

Users began requesting refunds after the controversy, and some people claim it prompted the platform to make changes in how it pays creators. An OnlyFans spokesperson told Vulture that it “confirms that any changes to transaction limits are not based on any one user,” but didn't comment on whether the changes were a result of Bella's account. “Transaction limits are set to help prevent overspending and to allow our users to continue to use the site safely,” the spokesperson added.

Despite Bella's apology, some people still feel that her actions have threatened actual sex workers' livelihood.

In her apology, Bella explained, "I wanted to bring attention to the site, the more people on the site the more likely of a chance to normalize the stigmas, And in trying to do this I hurt you."
