Bella Ramsey just landed their next big role.

On April 6, Deadline announced that the actor, who catapulted to household name status following their breakthrough performance in HBO’s The Last of Us, will star in Monstrous Beauty, a period drama set in 17th century England. Bella will portray Barbara Field, a hopeful playwright born into poverty and covered completely in hair due to a rare condition.

“Given the precious gift of an education, she is offered the opportunity of a place in the luxurious and decadent court of King Charles II, as a ‘Natural Wonder’ where people with extraordinary appearances mix with the aristocracy,” the official film synopsis reads, per Deadline.

“Fuelled by the desire to be defined for who she is rather than how she looks, Barbara aspires to become a playwright under the auspices of famous actress Nell Gwyn, powerful mistress to the King. Nell herself is intent on teaching Charles a public lesson on the true appreciation of women beyond their physical appearance,” the description continues. “Barbara seeks the help of famous playwright of the day, Aphra Behn, and casts beautiful actor Vale (the object of Barbara’s own desire) as the lead, despite his lack of talent. But will Barbara succeed in becoming a woman of independent means whilst challenging a highly patriarchal society, and become master of her own destiny?”

The Monstrous Beauty cast also includes Dominic West (fresh off his *other* royal role in Netflix’s The Crown) as King Charles II, Ruth Negga as Nell Gwyn, and Fiona Shaw as Aphra Behn. The outlet reports that filming is scheduled to begin this September (hopefully not conflicting with when The Last of Us season 2 *might* start production, per leading man Pedro Pascal 👀).

We cannot wait to see Bella back on the big screen.
