Bella Hadid and The Weeknd Reunited at Her Birthday Party Months After Breakup

Bella Hadid and The Weeknd have been on-again, off-again since they started dating in 2015, and when the former couple was spotted at Bella's birthday party over the weekend in New York, eyebrows were raised. Were they dating again?

The pair reportedly ended things in August of 2019 after reuniting the summer before. A source cited their busy schedules as one of the reasons behind the breakup, saying the pair were in "different places right now, physically and mentally,” but did add that the two "hope to get back together at one point but for now are focusing on themselves and their projects."

However, while The Weeknd attended Bella's birthday bash, it doesn't seem like a reconciliation is in the works. After dating rumors surfaced again, a rep for the musician told People that "they just attended as friends.” It appears as though the two are friendly, and The Weeknd came out to support his former love as she rang in her 23rd year. People also reported that The Weeknd posted a few "cryptic" messages on his Instagram, which have now been deleted, including, "Imagine obsessing over someone’s relationship that u don’t know s— about." He also shared an old Tweet that read, "If I didn’t confirm it myself, then it is ‘not confirmed.’"

Of course, we can't know the full truth about Bella and The Weeknd's relationship status without the pair explicitly saying they're back together or not. And the two celebs don't owe us this private information either; nor should we take information from an unnamed source as the truth. That being said, we think it's very sweet that the exes reunited for Bella's special day. It's clear that they hold a special place in each other’s hearts and that their friendship is important to both of them whether or not they're officially together.
