Bella Hadid Sent Selena Gomez Social Media Love
Look, you'd be forgiven for thinking that, just maybe, Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid have a strained relationship given that dating switcheroo sitch with The Weeknd and all. But then you'd also be forgiven for forgetting the whole thing happened at all, because it was so long ago (2017, dark times etc. etc.) and I mean, Jelena is the only thing that matters anymore, right?!
To recap, then: Bella and The Weeknd were dating for a year, give or take, and then they broke up and then Selena and The Weeknd were also dating for a year, give or take, and then they broke up too! Celebrities and the tangled webs of love they weave!
Anyway, and then Selena got back with Justin Bieber for a hot second, maybe? Except now they're on a break again and the Biebs is hanging with a beauty queen named Baskin (well, technically Sarah-Baskin but let's not quibble when a fantastic name is concerned) and Selena's been entirely unbothered about it all, thanks very much. Breathe! Everyone take a breath! I know I need to take a breath.
You see, Selena has treated herself to a break-up vacation break, and has been hanging out Down Under with friends from her Hillsong church circles. It's been sunny and relaxing, and she went out on a yacht- and the paparazzi shot long-lens photos of her bikini body as they all too often do; the pictures were the first time Selena's kidney transplant scar was visible to the world.
Commentary on those bikini body photos soon veered into body-shaming territory (sigh), and while Selena remained unbothered, she was also not going to let that sort of nonsense slide entirely. Responding on Instagram, she shared a video and an empowering caption citing Naomi Wolf's classic feminist text The Beauty Myth:

And then, in a show of quiet but nonetheless sweet support, Bella Hadid threw a quick "like" Selena's way because, if you think about it, the modern (celebrity) woman is also often "trapped in an endless cycle of hopelessness" as she deals with the rabid fixation on her love life, speculation which sees almost always her pitted against her peers dipping their toes in the same dating pool. Huh:
