Bella Hadid Has a Carla Bruni Doppelganger Moment (Again!) and It's Worth a Double Take

Bella Hadid took throwback twinning to new places with this original supermodel homage in New York City.

Bella Hadid is an advocate of expertly executed—and seamlessly individualized—throwback '90s beauty looks. And for her latest visual trick, the model continued her referential twinning streak by channeling one of her favorite patron saints, supermodel Carla Bruni, on the first night of New York Fashion Week.

For a post-show outing in the company of sister Gigi, as well as good friends Simi Khadra and Kendall Jenner, Hadid kept her dark hair on-trend, slung high and half-up in the season's most cultish style, and finished the look with details like aughts-inspired frames. An abbreviated and body-skimming dress pulled focus to a set of femme fatale legs which guided the eye toward a punctuative pair of sunny yellow pumps.

The look instantly brought to mind a young bombshell Bruni on Chanel's 1990 runway—updated slightly by Hadid with an all-over bronze glow and poppy pink lips in place of pale skin and a Bordeaux mouth. Throwback French girl beauty with an California twist? Just call it the Bella-Carla connection—and a worthy kick off to fashion month.
