Bella Hadid Is Bringing Back the ’90s Fuzzy Bucket Hat

We all know that Bella Hadid is a die-hard revivalist. Whether it’s itty-bitty shoulder bags, or The Matrix-style sunglasses (or, indeed, both at the same time), her ability to breathe new life into overlooked trends from decades past has made her a style superstar off the runway as much as on.

Now, it seems she’s set her sights on a new divisive accessory to bring back from the murkier corners of ’90s style: the fuzzy bucket hat. While the humble bucket has been enjoying a renaissance for quite some time now—just take the vintage-inspired Pocono nylon style flying off the shelves at Prada, or the more elevated take on the trend designed by Stephen Jones for Dior that comes with a spray of netting—its fluffier cousin has been yet to make its return.

Arriving to London’s Heathrow Airport this afternoon, Hadid put her spin on the bucket hat (hers came in brown with a leopard faux fur trim), topping off an all-black look that included an oversize leather jacket, skinny jeans, and a stomping pair of Prada Monolith boots. It wasn’t the only throwback It accessory Hadid was sporting, either; slung over her shoulder was a highly covetable, graffiti-print messenger bag from Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic Spring 2015 collection for Chanel, known to fetch thousands on resale sites.

But back to the hat: if now isn’t the time to embrace this snug, cozy style, then when? As fall turns to winter, there’s nothing more cheerful (or more luxurious) than having your head swaddled in a cloud of faux fur. So keep your eyes peeled—if Hadid’s track record is anything to go by, they’ll be on the head of every street style star once the colder temperatures begin to roll in.
