A new tell-all book sheds some light behind-the-scenes at Marvel.

MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, released earlier this month, chronicles the conception of blockbuster films ranging from The Avengers to Guardians of the Galaxy.

Written by authors Joanna Robinson, Dave Gonzales, and Gavin Edwards, the book also includes quotes from Zak Penn, who apparently was originally meant to write The Avengers until Joss Whedon took over.

“It became pretty apparent that he had less than zero interest in, in any way, having me involved with the movie," says Penn, who has a writing credit in the film. "I think he's a d*ck. I think he's a bad person, and it was really surprising. Remember, my bonus is based on my credit. So literally millions and millions of dollars, which is not the issue here, but that just came out of my pocket and went into Joss's pocket."

Elsewhere in the book, it’s alleged that a Guardians of the Galaxy's screenwriter threw a 'f*ck James Gunn' party. Apparently, it came about after co-writer Nicole Perlman won a bitter fight with Guardians director James Gunn to include her name in the credits.

"Nicole had to knife-fight for her credit on Guardians of the Galaxy,” according to Thor screenwriter Zack Stentz, who’s quoted in the book. “But she is probably the preeminent female action tent pole writer now because she was the first woman to have her name on not just a Marvel movie, but on a Marvel movie that people really love.”
