Go Behind The Scenes At Jib League Myrkdalen, Norway

Jib League, a new competition series created by professional skiers James "Woodsy" Woods, Ferdinand Dahl, and Øystein Bråten, exploded into the freestyle scene this season, reimagining competitive events in a creative, community-oriented light.

Watch as Jib League founder Woodsy goes behind the scenes at the Myrkdalen, Norway, stop.

Jib League does away with the rigid rules of freestyle competitions past.

Here's how it all works.

Three jam sessions (a period of time where skiers can ski as much as they like) are held on three different features. After each session, the riders vote for whoever's skiing they liked most. Whichever rider receives the most community votes wins the competition.

The competition field is composed of qualified amateurs and invited pros.

This season, there were three stops of the Jib League tour, held in Myrkdalen, Norway, Nordkette, Austria, and Crans Montana, Switzerland.

I, alongside many other freeskiing fans, felt like it was time for something new in the competition scene. Jib League seems to have filled that void, championing a fresh format that prioritizes creativity over perfectly rehearsed slopestyle or half-pipe runs.

Plus, based on Woodsy's video, it looks like everyone in attendance was having loads of fun. And I'll always back any developments in skiing that put fun first.
