In case you didn't know, Bed Bath & Beyond has officially filed for bankruptcy and has begun the process of closing its remaining stores.

If you're on the slightly older side, then you probably have memories of it being maybe the most important going to college/back to college shopping destination.

Now, the chain has been struggling for a while and had been closing some of its stores for over a year. So, this isn't something that should come as a complete shock.

And if you hear one of your older relatives say something about how they saw on Facebook that this has to do with them refusing to carry Mike Lindell's pillows, just know that isn't the case. In fact, to put it simply, the company put itself into more debt because it decided to buy back its own stock — this was also compounded by the fact that it was already losing market share to other big box stores and online retailers, like Amazon, for years.

Even if you haven't stepped into one in years, there is something a bit sad about seeing such an iconic and nostalgic retail institution close its doors.
