Beaver's Excitement Over Chomping on Biscuits at Wildlife Park Is Internet Gold

Let's be honest--who doesn't love a good snack? Whether you're someone with a sweet tooth, a salt craving, or no preference whatsoever, there is an endless combination of delicious snack ingredients for you to enjoy. It's easy to understand why many animals--including pets--are so food-motivated!

As it turns out, dogs and cats aren't the only animals who love to have a snack. At Northwest Trek Wildlife Park in Eatonville, Washington, their new resident beaver took a much-needed (and much-enjoyed) snack break. His little biscuits may not look appetizing to me, but he doesn't hesitate chowing down in the smile-inducing February 8 video. In fact, his fervor for food even makes me want to grab a snack!

OMG, just look at him go! Hudson loves these biscuits, to say the least, but it sounds like his zoo caretakers love watching him eat just as much. Plus, those sounds he's making are absolutely priceless! I'm a person who truly despises the sound of people eating, but when it comes to a furry friend crunching on something yummy--I can't get enough!

Naturally, viewers are smitten with this Northwest Trek Wildlife Park beaver and his delicious snack. And who can blame them? I agree wholeheartedly with the commenter who mentioned that "the perspective [of the video] makes him seem like a giant invading a city." It was just too funny! Then, he uses his little hands to grab the biscuits just like a backyard raccoon would do if they found something to eat.  If you ask me, it could get any cuter.

What Do Beavers Eat?

While there's no uncertainty that Hudson loves his biscuits, there's quite a bit of certainty when it comes to what exactly they are. And while the wildlife park didn't give away that secret, I did learn that beavers eat many varieties of plants when living in or near North American rivers. It's safe to guess that Hudson's snack is plant-based, too!

In the spring and summer months, when plants are more abundant, beavers will snack on grasses, water lilies, clover, cattails, watercress, and ragweed. When there are fewer plants to be found, they'll also eat sagebrush and bark from certain tree varieties. You may also spy a beaver snacking on twigs, roots, leaves, and vines. Now it makes sense why Hudson's biscuits are so crunchy!

Beavers don't eat the same kinds of tree materials that they use to build dams, so there's often enough of both to go around. Hudson has all the snacks he'll ever needat @nwtrek, though it's yet to be revealed whether the park's newest resident helps build dams with the other beaver animals. How cute would that be?
