The Beauty and Chaos of Surfing Malibu During the First South Swell of the Season

The waves at Malibu were incredible during the first legitimate south swell of the season. I filmed this April 18, 2024. For the second part of the new south swell, I headed up to the ‘Bu. I filmed the Wedge the day before, which, as far as wave types go, is the complete opposite.

This new swell, basically, the first real south swell of 2024, has been unbelievable. I’ve chased it throughout Southern California, filming in places like Huntington and Newport. But I wanted to mix it up and go some place that was the complete opposite. Malibu is crowded. Most spots in Southern California are crowded. But Malibu is the monster of all crowds.

I really just wanted to let the camera roll so you can witness the beauty, and chaos, of surfing Malibu on a good swell. Enjoy!
